Selling a contract phone
Just taken out a new (first) contract with Mobile Outlet and O2 giving me 250minutes and 100texts for £30 a month....with the whole 12 months free by redemption (on a 12 month contract) and a free Samsung D600. I dont want the D600 and want to sell it....but is it alright to do this, and can i expect any comebacks from either O2 or MO............I will never go over my monthly allowance, or default on my payments.

do want you want with it, it doesn't matter.
You won't get any cashback from o2, it is nothing to do with them, just make sure you do exactly what moile outlet tell you to do to get you money0 -

But is it legal..........or is that Mobile Outlet either "won't know", or "dont care"0 -
they certainly won't know, there is no way for them to know that you are not using the supplied phone. all you have to do is supply the correct bills that they ask for. I doubt they will care either. o2 subsidise the phone, not mobile outlet
as far as i am aware the contract is not dependant on keeping the phone, or ebay wouldn't have so many phones for sale! no one from the networks ever asks if you still have the phone
though i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong0 -
As long as you don't want to end your contract early it is not a problem to sell the phone as soon as you get it. People do this all the time. However, if you wanted to end the contract early for any reason then they would expect you to return everything that you got as part of the package.0

sorry, but you are wrong there, as i have just found out to my amazement.
my story-
refurb phone bought from link, couple of months ago, never used it (too teccy for me), so have decided to sell it, wouldnt charge up so, took it to CPW to repair/look at (was advised by link, they can take 28 days to repair, CPW would do it quicker). couldnt return/exchange as more than 28 days passed.
anyway, CPW checked its imie no. and told me this was someone elses phone and it had been bought from CPW.
i was really humiliated by all this.
phoned link who say just hand it in to one of our stores for repair.
phoned 02, and was told that i had never actually used this phone with their sim (which is true).
BUT they actually told me which phone i had been using-
so they can tell which phone is being used, this really surprised and amazed me as well as frightening, reminding me that maybe big brother is watching my every move. do i actually have any privacy?
anyway sorry for hijacking your thread, was going to start a new one, but this seemed relevant
btw, i did sell two contract phones last year at beginning of contract - no problems.
fact is now, have i got a phone that i shouldnt have?, if so i dont want it.
what can i do.?
imie no. on receipt is same as one registered with 02
imie no. on phone cannot be read as its right inside the phone, very small print. lady at CPW scanned it bar code on it, so i dont even know if its on it.
please help!Nice to save.0 -

The IMEI is the unique ID of your phone. To retrieve this on your phone key in: *#06#

So really theres no definate answer to my original question......
It seems dependant on various circumstances.......one being that the phone I sell doesn't go wrong, and the new owner has reason to get in touch with o2 or Samsung, or I default on my contract(which I won't).....It would be nice to hear from someone who works for the networks or providers on this question.0
