Use nothing. Sounds crazy but it works. My first son and middle son used to suffer from nappy rash and when middle son was 4 months old somebody told me not to use it as it stops the nappy soaking up the urine, baby gets nappy rash and you use more cream..... it blocks the pores of the nappy.

I stopped using it on middle son and never used it once on 3rd son and he never got nappy rash once.

We used to get bad teething rash, but I now have a teething necklance from here http://www.tearlessteething.com/ and she doesn;t get it! She also doesn't seem to get as much pain, her cheeks don't go red, and she doesn;t drool as much.

I know it seems crazy that wood could do that but it does seem to work!

They are not for them to bite, BTW, the wood is supposed to be some natural cure simply by touching the skin. Sounds nonsense but IME it does work - it also makes her skin really soft, we've not had to use her aqueous cream on dry patches since she's worn it. And it looks cool.

I wouldn't trust anything that is to be worn around a little ones neck.

I've just read all the info and it says the clasp is fine as if it is pulled or catches on something, then the clasp will pop open ~ but what if that happend in the middle of the night, and baby started chewing on it? (I only said during the night as I'm assuming baby would be supervised constantly through the day).

It may very well work, but it wouldn't be something I would want to try.

Another vote here for egg white. I found this on a naturopathic website:

"Another naturopathic tip is to apply egg white to the nappy area then dry it using a hairdryer (on cool), this should be repeated three times so that a layer of albumin is built up, this will form a barrier and protect the skin between nappy changes. The use of egg white used to be a standard hospital treatment for bedsores. "

another vote for vaseline .. and plenty of fresh air to the bum !

Yup! Definitely fresh air! Does the bum good! :D
  • As much 'bare bum time' as possible, two warm soap-free baths a day (to get rid of the urine that wipes doesn't), Metanium on over night (put it on sparingly and let it 'dry' before putting the nappy on) also making sure that baby's bum is completely dry before putting a nappy on. We found certain brands of wipes and nappies definitely made the nappy rash worse so now we stick with Huggies pure wipes (we stock up when they're on offer).

  • MSE is better than any baby forum for advice :rotfl:

My OH came home with bepanthen although I was going to use metanium. She has had a few plain baths. Lots and lots of bare bum times. Had a wonderful time this morning cleaning poo off her, off myself and the floor  air dryed her bottom, instead of wipping and putting a thin layer of cream on. Was going to make an appointment today, but her bottom seems to have cleared up overnight and better each time I look at it. Once it has cleared up completely I will start putting vaseline on as a prevention.

Just cant believe how awful it was yesterday and how quickly it has cleared up.

    Amazing advice people x

Usual cream from chemist - rub it in and then follow on top with a layer of vasaline - The cream will work under the vasaline and the vasaline will give like a water proof layer on the skin for when she's wet. And as you already are doing fresh air :)

Ahh just saw she's much better, good news :)
