Baby has really bad nappy rash any tips?

Use water and cotton wool (or a quick bath/shower) rather than wipes, plenty of fresh air on the bum, thin layer of cream (I used bepanthen). I've also found that an egg white works great, break it up a bit with a fork, smear on, let it dry and usually it's gone in the morning (even seriously bad nappy rash where the skin has broken).0

I'd agree with tiamai_d in post #22 but beware of possible allergy to eggs...0

another remedy but very old-fashioned is Fullers Earth. you can buy it from chemists is very cheap and with disposable nappies is no longer a nightmare to wash out of nappies.
you use it like talcum powder.
but the barebummed approach and either vaseline or sudocreme worked for me.
the fullers earth remedy was one used by mum and her mum before her! i did try it and it worked by my baby was in terry nappies and the washing of them was made horrendous by Fullers Earth.0 -
I agree with fresh air between nappies.
We never used Sudocrem as a preventative, our HV told us nappies were so good at taking the wetness away from the skin that creams would stop them working properly.
Now maybe we were lucky but DD never had more than a slight touch of nappy rash.
That was 11 years ago now, so nappies will have improved even further since then!
Hope your little one is better soon, and remember you don't have to see teeth for them to be teething.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

One of our foster babies suffered with this and we were told by the midwife to use Metanium and not to use baby wipes, to use water and a cloth (we cut an old towel into squares) and to dab dry.0

I used metanium when my two's bum's got really sore, it always sorted them out. I'd use vaseline on every nappy change, but if they got really sore, metanium only took a couple of uses and cleared it up! Have recommended it to lots of friend's who've all been happy with it.0

Worth also a quick think about any changes you've made in the last day or two - any new foods, different wipes/nappy, bubblebath? Any of these can trigger an outbreak of nappy rash. As above: Metanium, Bepanthen, check it's not thrush and plenty of fresh air. Hope it clears quickly.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

whisked egg white forms a barrier to prevent further irration and the protein heals the skin - very old fashioned but effective0

My DD3 had it really bad as she started teething at 11 weeks :O but, i found out that she was actually allergic to the brand of nappy we were using! And it was giving her thrush, so i always have a tube of Clotromizal (sp?) in the fridge now. Ashton and Parsons powders are amazing, they neutralise the acid in babies tums when teething, so stop the urine burning their sore bums even more. Hope babe is better soon! xMummy to 3 beautiful GIRLS, 9, 7 and 3,
