I can guarantee that I will never turn to credit again. The day I am debt free will be the the end of one chapter in my life and the start of a new one a one that will see me ask questions such as do I really need it? can i get it cheaper elsewhere and oh better check that website tedsd recommended to me. I will never ever buy anything unless i have the money in my hand to pay for it. This is a hard lesson to learn and at times I feel inadequate but it will be worth it in the long run.

Well that's it my first Christmas without the use of credit cards. It was a struggle but now its done.

I was in the city centre today watching people rush around and I had a thought to myself and this was it "Well when the end of January arrives I will not have the worry of how am I going to pay the Visa as many of these people rushing by will have" and at that point I realised I had done the right thing and that christmas without credit was good. I smiled and my OH asked what you smiling at I just said life.

So on that heavy note I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a very Healthy New Year and a one filled with happiness and prosperity.

Well done everyone and a belated Happy Christmas to you all. Still managed to spend a bit more than I would have liked but not on credit so yay. This time last year it was expensive ipods for the kids and more debt for us. This year smaller gifts and clothes that were needed anywayand they are just as happy.
Mikon I do't know how old your children are but ours know our situation and have been brilliant and we are all learning through this process.
One bad thing is that we had a big energy bill a few days ago which is more than our monthly payment by a lot.:(
We have tried so hard to be good aswell. We have had the cold weather but I'm also worried that the ironing I do is more expensive on my bill than I thought. I only have a few semi regular customers and saw it as a bit of extra money to put away but think I need to do some research as to how many units i'm using.
Anyway that aside, happy boxing day one and all. Thank you for your support to get me through this first part of my dmp.
    Onwards and upwards.

    Much love LLxxx

We seem to be hurtling towards 2011 and yet another payment to CCCS/Paypal/etc.

    Where did December go?!?!?!?!?!?!

I have £20 that I was given as a Christmas gift to blow in the sales which will be a bit strange as I haven't bought anything of note for a year!

What does one do with £20.....

  • Merry Christmas all
Boxing day was our LBM anniversary, a whole year with no use of credit, yahoo!!!!
No water since Christmas Eve, everything frozen solid, made for some inventive stuff this Christmas, ie you're welcome to visit but you need to take a bucketful of melted snow to flush the loo!!!!
Guests have been bringing bottles of water, it amazing how many you go through, and we take a towel and some soap when we visit and jump in showers!!!
Interesting, have a wonderful New Year and please keep your fingers crossed for a thaw...........

    Hi Mephista,

I'd have been gutted too re the flights especially as money is so tight...plus the time you must have spent in planning it.

That said, hope you have a lovely Christmas!

    Ted
So very kind of you my friend! I think I'm over it now. Isn't it weird the way fate works? I think it was actually for the best we didn't go. We would have been stuck in London and neither I nor my Dad can be without our medication. Also there is no way he could have stayed in an airport overnight so the whole thing would have been madness and more expense!!

In the end I've managed to enjoy my Christmas and am looking forward to the New Year!

You've been a good friend, as have you all. I look forward to sticking together through it all in what will hopefully be a better New Year!!

    Love to all:blushing:

  • Merry Christmas everyone.

Ouch Dopey. Do you have heating? Just no water? Must be a real drag anyway.

Meph sorry you didn't make the trip.

Hope all you fellow paddlers are enjoying a bit of time out.

I got some money for Xmas so have spent it in online sales buying bargain pressies to get through the year. I reckon that way the money goes a lot further and will help me relax more knowing I'm ahead of myself. Thanks to Teds re Grabbit information, that combined with sales and cashback site doesn't half provide some much needed elastic.

Doing lots of reflecting. DMP life is tough but has no comparison to the worry and strain of before and at least this way there is hope for the future. Can't believe how much I learnt and what a better position I am in. Can't thank everyone enough. It warms my cockles to see everyone supporting each other.

Hope you all have a relaxing break

    Hi everyone

Well went to the sales today to grab a few bargains for birthdays throughout the year. New Look jewellery £1, M & S Jewellery 1/2 price so grabbed a bargain for birthday presents.

    What DMP can mean -

DMP = Did Manage Presents this Christmas without credit.

DMP = Don't Mind Paying cash

DMP = Discount My Product please.

just a bit fun to see us into 2011.
