So according to the anpr you have not yet left. That should make any invoice interesting reading if you go back in a fortnight. Just make sure you get the numberplate secured or the BIB will av you.

I have never been to that car park and not likely to either so not sure what they will do!
Number plate now securely attached to the car.

Best to stick to the 2 hours, eventually a ppc will find its worth their while to make an example of someone

Thanks what I was thinking, might just park there all day knowing that thay cannot do anything about it.

    I love this site!!!

"""I parked in a McDonalds car park today for too long and it had one of those ANPR cameras on the entrance & exit.
The only thing is that my rear number plate has fallen off yesterday and hadn't got round to sticking it back on.
If I do get a ticket do I just ignore? """
    Next you say
"""I have never been to that car park and not likely to either so not sure what they will do!"""
Very confused at the apparent contradiction.

    Also
"""Also we have got a car park that is monitored by ANPR near our work which I normally park there for 2 hours then move it somewhere else. Can I park there all day 5 days a week and just ignore the letters?"""
    My reply
"""Best to stick to the 2 hours, eventually a ppc will find its worth their while to make an example of someone."""
    Then you say
"""Thanks what I was thinking, might just park there all day knowing that thay cannot do anything about it."""
Might just be the end of a long day but why ask if you intend to park there anyway?

    Sorry for the confusion.
Meant to say I have not been to that car park before today, and not likely to go there again.

I am not likely to get a ticket from a carpark I have never been to am I?

Also meant to say, I might just park there all day for one day just cos I know I can get away with it.

I'd go back deliberately to see if I can get a parking ticket which covers a month. Would be some sort of record.

Had a phonecall today from Kerry asking the registered keeper to phone her back and she quoted the reference number on the letter. As I have said it is not the registered keeper who was driving, a conclusion they have jumped to. Fortunately I was out so it went to voicemail. how did they get the phone number? What should be said if they call again?

Never heard anyone mentioning they have been phoned in the past.

Just hang up, do not identify yourself to them - or for that matter to any other caller without prior determination of their bona fides.

Yes, some debt collectors do phone up, it has been reported quite a bit on pepipoo.com before so you haven't been singled out. The debt collector has either got the phone number from you in your letter to the parking company, or from the DVLA among the info supplied for the registered keeper (which comes from a form filled in when the car was registered).

Suggestions on how to handle this? I would either:

    - keep putting the phone down and ignoring any voicemails (the same as when ignoring their letters).

    - or say 'I'll just get him/her' then leave the phone dangling, preferably keeping a CD player nearby to flick on and play any annoying song like 'Agadoo' at full blast well within earshot. Go back and replace the receiver half an hour later. Do this every time.

    - or have a bit of fun and reply inanely to every question 'can I speak to xxxx' answer in your best creepy weirdo voice 'Yeeeeeeeeeeeesssss?' Then answer every other question with some daft, funny or unrelated phrase e.g. 'Are you Mr Smith?' your answer 'twenty-seven' etc. To help with this you could keep a list of short answers by the phone, maybe some with a World Cup theme would cheer Kerry up in that dismal debt collector's office?!

    - but personally I wouldn't want to cheer Kerry up. Send her packing by stating clearly that any alleged debt to the originating company is denied. Use that word 'denied'. Then state that they must immediately desist with contacting you and pass the file back to the originator or you will report them to Trading Standards and the OfT for harassment.

This link helps with the final option above - ignore the fact that it relates to real debts and insolvency, the info given about dealing with harassment is relevant & helpful:

  • Following on from this have just come back from holidays to find letter From Legal Recoveries & Collection Lrd of Nottingham who say they act for Athena ANPR Ltd and have been instructed to collect the £115. they also say that if they don't have payment by Tuesday 5th Oct court proceedings may be issued.

to add insult to injury they didn't frank the letter and my neighbour paid £1.29 to receive it.

Now p....d of and a even more worried.

What action do I now do, have ignored all the rest as previously advised.
    Thanks

Hi got a parking Contravention Ticket, on 19/05/2010 ticket number is
0 000 524 540. Having read the posts and threads here ignored it, got another one where it had gone up to £90.

It now states if not paid withing 7 days will be transferred to a Debt Collection company and will go up to £115

    The letter is headed;

    NOTICE OF COLLECTION PROCEEDINGS.

It threatens County Court Judgements which if that is applied could affect credit reference plus jobs as some employers will not employ you if you have a CCJ against you.
It also threatens Bailiifs, Attachment of Earnings and THIRD PARTY DEBT Orders.
Definetely feel threatened, so do I still ignore it or give in to the threats and pay it? Will be pretty annoyed if they do follow through and end up having to pay £115 to avoid Court.

    :( Unhappy bunny

Just continue to ignore them, really not even paying for a stamp for their scam letter is beyond belief, these tickets are NOT enforceable, they will NOT take you to court, STOP worrying please.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

    "Legal Recoveries & Collection Ltd"

Yet another company name designed to frighten people into paying, because they could be fooled into thinking they are some sort of official organisation.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
