Each appeal shall be adjudicated by a senior manager of the company.
Totally fair, objective and transparent, then

I have ignored any reminders from Athena but have now received a letter from 'Legal Recoveries & Collections Ltd' claiming they act for Athena ANPR Ltd and are instructed to get the money off me. They say if payment is not received by 11am on June 9th court proceedings may be issued without further reference to me.

Do I still ignore this? Is this the normal progress of communication in these stupid parking cases?

    Thanks

Yes, just ignore, it's all part of the letter-chain. Note the word "may" which is not the same as "we definitely will". That outfit calling itself 'Legal Recoveries & Collections Ltd' is probably another desk in the same office.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

    Perfectly normal.

Athena have never done court anyway. They know they'd lose.

Hi got a parking Contravention Ticket, on 19/05/2010 ticket number is
0 000 524 540. Having read the posts and threads here ignored it, got another one where it had gone up to £90.

It now states if not paid withing 7 days will be transferred to a Debt Collection company and will go up to £115

    The letter is headed;

    NOTICE OF COLLECTION PROCEEDINGS.

It threatens County Court Judgements which if that is applied could affect credit reference plus jobs as some employers will not employ you if you have a CCJ against you.
It also threatens Bailiifs, Attachment of Earnings and THIRD PARTY DEBT Orders.
Definetely feel threatened, so do I still ignore it or give in to the threats and pay it? Will be pretty annoyed if they do follow through and end up having to pay £115 to avoid Court.

    :( Unhappy bunny

What they conveniently forget to tell you is the fact that before any of this can happen, ALL the following has to take place:

1 They take you to court.
    2 They win.
3 You still don't pay up.

No chance of that, they won't go to court because they know they would lose. The scam relies on people not understanding how the county court system works, and not understanding the difference between a bailiff and a debt collector. Carry on ignoring and they will eventually give up.

Keep ignoring the letters. Nothing will happen.

Here's a thread where we show similar letters re private parking charge notices, it doesn't matter if your PPC isn't named on our list, just look at a few examples and you'll see that debt collector threats are normal:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2214803

And here's a youtube link to last month's Watchdog programme where a legal expert confirmed what we are saying about these fake PCNs and letters. Watch and laugh and make a paper aeroplane out of your letters:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAIcdi9niHA

Nothing will happen as you don't actually owe anything. No credit agreement and no 'fine' = no debt.

    :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I parked in a McDonalds car park today for too long and it had one of those ANPR cameras on the entrance & exit.
The only thing is that my rear number plate has fallen off yesterday and hadn't got round to sticking it back on.
If I do get a ticket do I just ignore?
Also we have got a car park that is monitored by ANPR near our work which I normally park there for 2 hours then move it somewhere else. Can I park there all day 5 days a week and just ignore the letters?

    Thanks

So according to the anpr you have not yet left. That should make any invoice interesting reading if you go back in a fortnight. Just make sure you get the numberplate secured or the BIB will av you.
Best to stick to the 2 hours, eventually a ppc will find its worth their while to make an example of someone.
