Got issued one of these but it wasn't the registered keeper who was driving. Should I contact them to tell them simply that, or just ignore right from the start? Has anyone ever really been taken to court over all this?
I know there is quite alot of information about this but I'm just wondering whther to make any contact or not.
Thanks!

Don't contact them at all, that way they give up sooner.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
NO! Do not contact them in any way. Its not a charge certificate by the way, its a scam invoice.0

Whatever the details or circumsances, all private parking invoices can usually be safely ignored. If they dared to take it further (other than in written lies, threats and deceit) then there's a lot of people itching to take them on.
Post the details - anon personal details please - and let's just check this is a private invoice. If it is, expect up to five or six lying begging letters - feel free to update us as ou get them. After that - nothing. A bit fat resounding nothing as they fail to carry though their threats.Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission. Thank you.0 -
It is a private ticket. Real Charge Certificates are not and cannot be issued by private companies.
I would deprecate. most strongly. the practice of posting images of their paperwork unless the poster is well versed.0 -
the top of the letter is headed 'Charge Certificate - Civil Parking Charge Notice' it has photos of the car entering and exiting the car park with numberplate displayed. It says if I pay within 14 days then a reduced charge of £45 (as opposed to £90) will apply. failure to pay will result in them transferring the case to debt collection etc. They claim to be a memeber of the British Parking Association and say if I beleieve my data is being used inappropriately to contact the DVLA or the Information Commissione (they have spelt it with the 'e' at the end)
Their website is https://www.athena-parking.com.
Sound like one to ignore?0 -

Do not ignore ... Send me the money instead and I will make sure they get it for you.
My idea is just as enforceable in courtThe word "gullible" isn't in the dictionaryTickets: 19 [cancelled: 18, paid: 0, pending: 1]
PPC Appeals: 8 [accepted: 2, rejected: 5, pending: 1]
POPLA: 4 [accepted: 4, rejected: 0, pending: 0]0 -
The issue of invoices disguised a legitimate council Charge Certificates is fraud.0

I laughed at this on their website:"Our clients often suffer from the abuse of any parking facilities provided or from abusive parking on their premises and it can seriously affect the operation of their business and the use of their property."Abusive parking????"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Agreed! Then send me £90 (although I'd be happy with £45, I guess).
