Thanks for the news on Diva, SunnyGirl - fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Celyn that icing looks fab but your poor hands! Have you tried the ibuprofen gel, I find it works a dream if I have stuff like that to do (I have RA) but keep it only for that to get max benefit from it.It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
poor diva, hope she is ok.
Welcome Lindy!

meanmarie - hope your hubby's scan goes okay
csarina - sorry about your greenhouse
welcome Lindy
Oooh, ibuprofen gel - that's a really good idea! I have a bit of movement back now and I've been soaking it in warm water for a bit. The problem is that the nozzle I am using is 00 guage - pretty much the finest stream you can do so it requires a nasty amount of pressure to get it through - if I make the royal icing any slacker the stands don't stay apart and I have to try and do long continuous loops to keep the pattern stable. It's a strange pattern - you work about an inch above the surface of the cake and as the icing falls it makes the little loops. It looks quite intricate though - a bit like antique lace. I tried to teach OH to do it, but it he keep trying to push the nozzle down and it doesn't work if you get too close
I am just finishing off the edging round the base. I did have a fairly productive time in town - picked up the forms for a passport renewal, shunted the contents of the savings account into the ISA, found some ivory ribbon to cover the side of the cake drum, bought lightbulbs and dropped my report into work.
I've done one load of laundry and fixed the wardrobe doors too as they had come out of the sliders again:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -

Evening:p
Been at work today so no real home stress;), my patients are far easier to deal with than DS in the hols:rotfl::eek:.
thank you all for your supportive comments last night:A. Jackie I looked at those things you sent links for...I think the radio would be useful so may keep a look out for one of those:D.
Bitsy when he says " pretending to be a radio" he means flapping up and down pretending to tune himself in to various stations:o and actually being the radio himself.....something I can`t really take part in;).
He is also pretending to be a DJ a lot either James Barr or Chris Evans:o. I might see if the cat rescue place would let him visit( yes Jackie it is cats he loves:D).
It just makes me feel so useless that I can`t sort out my own child or get into his head and understand where he is coming from. He gets very controlling too in the hols but I think that is because all his routine is gone and he has to control something in desperation.
MSD hope you are ok hon and things go well tomorrow.0 -

I know plenty of people without ASD that I can't sort out or get into their headAt the end of the day you are not a mind reader so please don't beat yourself up about it. You might disagree but I think you do a fab job, DS isn't even half as controlling as Noah and he pushes my buttons at times
I just wish there was something that could be done for him. I feel so sorry that he bumps along OK and then everything changes because it's the hols. Must be so hard for him to understand poor love. Sending him lots of hugs from me.
Celyn - my mum did a cake once with similar icing scribble. I wouldn't have the patienceI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Upstairs is alll clean and tidy, for today anyway. Tumble dryer has been on for 2 hours and the stuff still not all dry so will have to start saving (along with the holiday fund) for a new one ready for the autumn, as this one is eating up the electric! I'm slightly jealous that alot of people have had dry weather, got the boys suited and booted to play outside and wait 4 OH to come in from work and noticed it was bouncing down!
bitsy Beans - i think i like it here! Have been reading the threads since January but was too shy to join in!
On a lighter note, I have finished one bag of mini eggs whilst OH puts the boys to bed but I do feel slightly sick. I'll never learn
Enjoy youre evening - I have full control of the laptop as OH headng out - oh the power! xxMum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
Hugs for MSD
NPM hope the rest of the week runs a bit smoother for you both0
