Lovely day out today. Picnic and caching is a good way to spend a Monday.

We managed to find 7 which goes towards the target of 50 by the end of June. Couple were reasonable walks and lots of lambs and suicidal pheasants to be seen.

Back to the grindstone tomorrow but hopefully another all-home-together day next week.

Hope everyone else had a pleasant Monday.

Semi expensive day. Went out and bought things we'd been putting off for ages and on the whole saved a lot on what we expected.

New shed to take the shelving from the garage so we can press on with the extension. Being custom built to suit the narrow strip we have available so happy with an all in price of £680 for 12 x 5 x 7 feet of storage incl delivery and building. We'd budgeted for nearer £2 to £2.5k so happy with that result.

Then went to usual carpet warehouse (that I don't like) to find it had relocated. There is a local place I've seen advertised next to the hairdresser so parked OH with head like Fozzie Bear in hairdresser and instructions to "shear him" and popped next door. Guy immediately found something to meet my needs for the rental house. Price for two carpets, delivered and fitted, both 4m by 3.5m was £260. I paid double that for one hall carpet last time so very happy that my budget of £500 (and that was wishful thinking) was halved.

Both shed and carpet are payment after delivery and we are happy. Very impressed with that.

    Fozzie shearing was a tenner.

New remote for Sky (it has tape holding it together) plus dualit 4 slot toaster for new kitchen at just over £100 altogether was also very respectable.

So I'd geared up for spend of around £3k and spent under £1k and most importantly got exactly what I wanted :j:j:j

way to go jenn - that is some saving! Have a great week!

By the way - back to the book club thing.... I have just read Fiona Harrold's The 7 rules of success and thought it was absolutely fab. It completely challenges small minded thinking, fear of failure, blaming the past etc and instead quotes honest stories of success, failure and success of a variety of figures from well known celebrities through to charity founders. Really life affirming!

    The expense continues unabated.

The bearings on the tumble dryer seized yesterday so I bit the bullet and bought a new one. Was going to Comet anyway to pick up the toaster so got one while I was there. Given the ongoing building work we're still living in our perpetual cloud of builders dusts never mind volcanoes and nothing can be dried anywhere without turning into a concrete sheet.

Very proud of myself last night as I swapped machines out, handy skip in front yard for old one then both the new dryer and the washing machine stopped. Plug had arced and burned out socket and adaptor. Electrian in as we speak trying to resurrect utility applicances.

And to cap it all I helped the builder move the old shed and we managed to snap the arm off the Sky dish. That's now secured by duct tape and a smile.

Goal is to get through the rest of today with any further damage to house, contents or bank balance :rotfl:

Hello, hope everyone is well and everything is going according to plan.

Shop is now up and running properly. First customers have been paid and come back with more stuff so all's good there. It's been very nice researching stuff I know nothing about from Japenese Dinnerware to Biker's Leathers, Industrial Heaters to WWI Binoculars.

We've also entered into a deal with a local lady who creates complete outfits incl accessories from vintage and retro gear. First full outfit for a festival, club, party etc went on eBay tonight so it'll be good to see how that goes.

On the house front the shed is up and the garage will be attacked over the next weekend or two. The library has 45m of shelving up and undercoated and the en-suite is finally replaced (meaning no more slopping out whoo hoo).

Small Boy's exams start with Chemistry tomorrow so best of luck to him.

Geocaching is getting there, still hoping to do my 50 by end June.

Paperwork needs attention (bit like the diary) I will improve!
