  • AHHHH Time for my twice a week rant!

Im stuck in a horrible catch 22 situation at the minute, The money I am making is just about supporting us, we keep making stupid mistakes and buying crap we dont really need to buy just yet and are desperately in need of a number of things we can not find at what we believe to be reasonable cost.

Im also at the stage where I need to start putting some money into marketing my business, however I have no money to put into marketing my business. Traditionally 5-6 weeks before work dried up I would reinvest some of the takings into getting new business in. However at the minute I dont have the money to invest or money to pay my link builder to do the link building for me.

Id like to get a SAAS (Software As A Service) application like esellertools earning me the money - then instead of focusing on the money I can start to focus on making the better tools people crave, but its catch 22 in the fact that without the money to live off I do not have the energy to develop the tools to bring in the money.

Also without hte money to market my business I am not able to generate fresh business.

On with the ebaying This evening I Guess :(

As you are an established business NLID, can you not approach business link for ideas with grants? Or put you in touch with people that will do labour exchanges? I realise that time is tight but, as you’ve said you’ve done before, a website / seo for a local company that can help with marketing might be worth a shout...

As for grants I know from my experience there is nothing in my area for new start ups but a fair bit for established companies...

Oh, just had an idea..... Is there a college / uni near to you? Might be worth approaching them to see if they teach marketing. One or more students might just want some work experience / use you as a project to gain course credit... all done for free with a recommendation from you if it works!

Off to do some jobs before the meeting this afternoon...

Well 2 of my MS reports have been approved already :D so £18 will be paid shortly. 1 more report due tonight, 1 shop to be done on Wednesday. I like when I have a lot of MS jobs on the go. Having the OH signed up to is great because he can get the jobs I can't i.e. the male only ones.

My model cancelled on me tonight so I'm struggling to find a replacement. Need someone or ill fail, why she waited until now to tell me I'll never know!! Argh
  • Thats awful cagne and Jo
How can people do things like that, whats worse is when they get away with it or courts dont give them the punishment they deserve
That woman must have been a right bunny boiler, its hard to understand some peoples motives
I could cry when I see pictures of those poor children, some people are pure evil
I read that the family had been harrased by teens and had called police out that night
Whats happening, some teenagers are out of control and some kids young as 8, my kids wernt allowed to roam the streets at that age, some of my youngest DDs peers are roaming till all hours getting up to god knows what, and there parents havent a clue where they are or dont care

nlid have you thought about going on the wanna buy it forum here and saying what the things are you are needing and what sort of price you are thinking of . other people may have ideas or info that would help you. or post them here and we'll have a go at seeing what we can come up with. have you also becom a member of freecycle or freegle. can quite often get stuff off their for free and some really good stuff often.
or look at preloved/ mumsnet local boards/
it does get demoralising but sometimes you do have to just keep pressing forwards even if it feels like just plodding and barely surviving. look at our munchki, when she first came on here she was permanently exhausted sending out hundreds and hundreds of cv's and filling in job applications. to me it looked like shae was doing it 25 hours a day. now she's started to break through.
not saying push yourself beyond your limits but when you get demoralised remember it is all an investment in your future. you might not have money to invest in your future right now but you do have skills and time.
maybe shake it up a bit. invest a bit of time looing at some motivational stuff. the guy I posted a link too yesterday, seth Godin has loads of free stuff if you just look at his blog and its all pretty authentic but very practical too. there are lots of videos of him too as well as articles and free ebooks. I often hate people like this but he makes so much sense.there is a lot of free marketing stuff you can do these days too if you can get your head round it.
go for a walk, a swim, a run, cycle or something to blow away cobwebs and lift spirits.
anything just to shake things up a bit. not all investment in your project needs to be dedicated work hours. keeping your self inspired and with good energy levels is important too and every bit as much of an investmeant.
