have a good rummage round B&Q - got kitchen door handles in one for 99p and in other B&Q in Dundee still priced at £12.99 , focus Arbroath had wallpaper down from £17.99 a roll to 49p (nice brown with bronze leaves) guess who bought 14 rolls of the stuff - all the same batch number, really only need about 6 to do halfway up the walls on the stairs, nice and dark so you wont see where the kids have been! but they were a bargain so couldnt just buy 6 - think my neice has claimed the rest for a feature wall when she gets her house, and there will still be abour 4 rolls left! keep an eye on the Argos Local Clearance as you get brilliant deals on there. (link on the local bargain finder post by elly a few pages ago)
Have bought taps on ebay about 6 years ago and they are still fine.

NLID - be thankful you do not have a car like mine. £100 minimum for a decent tyre. Could you not weight in the alloys for scrap??

hehe - I went from a really nice avensis, which I absolutely loved to this old banger with tape holding the bumper together as I can not be bothered to repaint my spare bumper lol!

The alloy will be weighed in for scrap, around £6 an alloy around here iirc however most of them have decent tyres on so just keeping them where they are as there always good for spares. And occastionally I sell a set of alloys for £50-70 a set ;)

So far the total cost of ownership (exc tax/insurance/petrol) has been £450, this includes buying the thing, repairing its problems (Im a capable mechanic as well) and giving it a full service. This weekend will see it get a lambda sensor and new ECU (owners club bargains), and the price is included in the £450 and will allow me to see about 5-15 mpg increase in economy :D

Now the only thing I need to find (second hand and cheap of course ;) ) is an exhaust backbox as the one I have is blowing slightly - but it must be standard (dont like modifiied daily runners unless I have to) so will keep my eye out for someone breaking one for spares and go in with a cheeky offer!

The plan is when its MOT expires in october to break this for parts, and replace it with another cheap runabout (always got my eyes open for something coming up ;) which may bring this sooner - it needs tax at the end of next month)

    Excellent! I do like a good rummage!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Ok, I'm getting very ahead of myself (not even got a mortgage secured yet hehe) but I could do a blog about doing it up MSE style couldn't I? Before and after shots and it would probably keep my sanity intact if I could see the progress!!

Right, I seem to have fixed my problem! You don’t realise how dependent you are on the internet until you can’t access it!

NLID – sorry to hear about the client (((hugs))) another webby way to make some income is Lionbridge. All I know is that it is internet based and they pay a good rate so it might make a good ‘meantime’ job. Also, have a few minor tweaks and I will send you the new site! Chin up and if I can think of anything else techwise that you can do I will let you know!

Paula B – glad that your Grandma is on the road to recovery. Good luck with the weigh in too.

Munchki – Yay about the keys! Really happy for you x

Other than now that I am going to get all the work I should have done this morning and big hugs to all who need them today.

Just finished making some jewellery and ordered some new stickers for the gift boxes (jewellery website)

Am off out round my friends this afternoon but will catch up tonight :-)
  • Thanks Dilli,

I look forward to getting this site finished hopefully tonight ready for the content to be added and then need to make it earn some revenue!

I have just had an absolutely great idea for a business website - with a HUGE amount of potential through combining a couple of existing ideas - a quick google and it has not been done before and I could if i had the business contacts get it working :(

Problem is it is an extremely competitive market and would take a huge amount more financial investment than I have to offer :(

Hi everyone - I'm just figuring out my next step in money making - I'm investigating the idea of selling digital info (as pdf documents).
I need to download free pdf creator software - have asked on the techie board and have been given some suggestions: Cute pdf, Bullzip, primopdf and pdf forge - looked at their websites but can't really get a feel of what they're like to use -
anyone on here ever used free pdf creator software and can recommend which one is best?
  • we used to use winpdf iirc - it acts just like a printer and saves a pdf for you.

Yes thanks,- had a look - it seems okay - but I don't want to buy anything yet - I want to see if the idea will work before I commit any money to it!

ooohhh Lionbridge.... have you worked for them Dilli?? I looked into it ages ago but because people are a bit cagey (due to contracts apparantly) I was a little bit wary. I think I need something bringing in money now whilst my little empire is building:D
