'anyone else think they have done a fantastic job'
being just one of them:D
People are just getting frustrated when the site runs fantastically .....then suddenly runs like the old one:(
However we do understand there are problems to sort out and everyones efforts are very much appreciated by all:)0 -

Thanks guys, we're not fishing for compliments (not yet anyways!) but it really is nice to hear the support most of you give us. I think the general feeling we had was that people werent allowing enough time for these changes to take effect and the problems to be ironed out.
Trust us, this forum is going to be fantastic when its at full speed - it's pretty great now!0 -

Oh you big fat liar!
Personally I have no idea of exactly what is involved behind the scenes with a job like this. I think that's the problem with a lot of people, they just don't realise the significance of the task involved. Maybe that's why there are so many 'site's slow' comments.
I do know, however, that work has been going on almost constantly to try to get things sorted out as soon as possible.
For all it may be Martin's site, it benefits all of us and I'm sure I can speak for everyone when I say we DO appreciate the effort you have all put in.
I'm sure loads of us would be lost without this site, lol. Thank you for getting it up and running again.
Now, could we please go invisible again....and can we have a 'Grab It Related/Consumer Discussions Board Immediately under Grab It please?Herman - MP for all!0 -
Thanks to all of you for your efforts to get things up and running so quickly.
Yes, it may be slow today, but would rather put up with a bit of slowness for the bedding down period, than be without the site full stop. A weekend was bad enough
Keep up the good work - it is much appreciated0 -
Hi thanks folks.
Sorry but it's frustrating for me too. I want it to be perfect. I hated the site crashing - still do. The problem is 'changes crash it'. Moving server crashes it.
What we could've done is close the site for two weeks - and hopefully have everything superb after that. However i know how much people would miss it so i wanted it running warts and all.
I think a 'good and fast most of the time, but struggling at others' isn't a bad result in week one.
To give you an indication - my suspicion is today in terms of number of pages server (ie how many different pages are read on the site) we will be in the biggest 2,500 site IN THE WORLD! Up there with massive international media organisations. That's why the site is struggling.
I've found the budget for server upgrades and we are going to shift to proper big industrial strength servers very soon - and hopefully that'll make a big difference. Now we've got the software running well - but we need to look at how it works first.
By the end of this week I want it running smoothly with some slowness.
What i really want is by next tip day (if we can change servers in time) it to be pretty fast even with 2000 people on it!

There's over a thousand people on now and the site is slower but still very usable. I don't mind crashes so much but there is this worry at the back of my mind that this fantastic community will one day disappear because of some big hardware failure.0

Martin, and your techie team, i just want to say thankyou for everything you have done and are presently doing. Even though the site is slow, i have still bagged myself a few bargains and if each page took 5 minutes to load, i would still be grateful!!!This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
