that every single poster on this thread is online now (according to the green dots). Amazing! Or is it a glitch?
Also I couldn't open the reply box under the last post, so experimentally clicked on the little arrow thing on top right of the big reply box, and here I am. I wonder where I am? Oh well when I post this I will find out no doubt!
Finding it all extremely slow too. So maybe everyone on the planet is online now!I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Hi folks.
Please remember it is tip day. We've just emailed nigh on 200,000 people about the site. They all came this morning. As noted this is the FIRST week of a project commercial sites would take 6 months to do and we did in a weekend.
The aim was to keep a chat forum here. This is still test week. Until we experience the demand and see how the forum reacts there's no way to alter it.
As for the woman who left, to be honest, what more does she want. There's a note on every page saying
"As the old software was crashing with the huge traffic, the change was forced sooner than expected, and we're still trialling it as it runs. During this first week glitches and slowness are likely so please bear with us. "
So there's little i can do. I ask for a little patience.
It looks like I am going to have to fork out for new bigger servers to cope with the demand. I don't mind doing this - i love this site.
I don't even mind complaints even though this is a completely free service that never tries to make money from you.
I'll be honest though, i'm human, and when we've explained 'this is a trial week - there will be glitches and slowness' and people complain about glitches and slowness, it does get to me.
Anyway - now that's off my chest,
The complaint about being 'sent to the old forum' that's a serious issue - not heard it before please would you use the forumtech email at the top of every page to report it

I don't think they are complaints, Martin...well mine certainly wasn't. It is much more a case of reporting back on things, giving feedback from using the site, so your techies get to know about the bugs and stuff that we come across and can tweak accordingly. I honestly thought I was helping. I've been a software tester for a number of years in a previous life and bug/user reports are vital to the techie tweakers
I certainly appreciate the site and the resources and work you and your team put into it, so please don't think you or your site are not highly valued by us users - you are!!0 -
I agree that we are not exactly complaining just getting desperate because we LOVE the site and it feels like family so we get twitchy when it changes."This site is addictive!"

We’re all human too. I appreciate your free website and impartial advice, have saved and continue to save money from your and other forum members tips and enjoy being part of this website’s community.
I have read your notes and appreciate that this upgrade has a number of bugs still to be ironed out. I don’t believe that any of us are posting on this topic just to complain and criticise but rather to inform and advise what we the end users are experiencing in order that the right tweaks can be applied.
At the end of the day what we have in common and what we all desire is a bug free, faster website.

Kinda my fault, as I started this post! However like the others said, I don't think we are (well I am sure not) complaining about anything. I just wanted to check that it was the forum that was actually slow and not my internet connection. Also I guess it was a way of reporting problems, so the tech people can look into it.
In no way was I trying to knock the great service that is offered by your website. I can only imagine how hard you and the others involved in getting the new forum must have worked, so I guess all I can say is well done and keep up the good work!"An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
Well said you two. We all love the site and worry when things change and are not sure if it is something that we have done wrong!"This site is addictive!"

As part of the team, i would say that it wouldnt hurt to praise the techy guys and Martin (for funding everything) aswell as pointing out the faults. We appreciate that people are listing faults they find so we can see what is happening this week, but i feel a few kind words about the efforts of the team would be much appreciated. Several of the guys pulled in 4am shifts Friday, Sat, Sunday and Monday to get these forums up and running....effectively giving their own time.0
