I find this scheme a little annoying, I knew it would be a hassle to get points given before it started.
I'm a little fed up of my points not being credited.
On 4 occassions the CA haven't given me any points, most CS are very rude too (espesh with the Schools vouchers, some refuse to give me them and others have made snide comments! I will be making a complaint about one specific occassion  ).
I don't go to CS, 1. because of the silly long queues and 2. because I don't want to be a pain and make the queue any longer over a couple of points :o ..Same with my clubcard point vouchers if the checkout refuses when it shouldn't
    The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

I got my points for the first couple of times, but now if I don't ask for them at the time of the transaction, they don't add them. Not the best incentive going really.

Can you get points without a card? I would obviously re use bags to help the environment, but it would be a waste of points.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I bought a newspaper today - used one M&S carrier bag and got one point.

But I did win 1,000 clubcard points from a recent Tesco competition so I am a happy Welshy today !

didn't think anyone won these! well done

Pleased to read it's not just me not getting points added for reusing bags. This is happening to me almost all the time now, even when I say to the assistant that I am using my own bags for the points ( and yes they are supposed to ask you! ). I didn't want the wait ( and embarrassment) at customer services for a few points but then I decided I was going to make a stand - the few points at a time do add up! I've done this twice now and had the points added manually. Today they asked for the receipt so they could tell the assistant responsible to make sure they added points on. ( Although I did feel a bit bad that I was now getting someone in trouble because of two clubcard points - I said it wasn't only that assistant but they made a big deal about I should come and let them know so they could find out which assistants were not doing their job properly). I was then told I should be prompting the assistant to give me the points ( actually no I shouldn't! And even when I do I dont get the points added anyway!) Maybe if everyone complained and went to claim back the points each time they will get tired of all the hassle at customer services and have to change the system to something that actually works. However, the realistic and cynical me thinks that a) it will only be a tiny amount of customers complaining and b)that maybe Tesco knew this would happen and having got all the good publicity out of it will just let it quietly fade into the background so they don't have to issue the points but still save themselves money by not having to issue the bags. I would reuse my bags anyway for green purposes but it's the principle behind this that annoys me - Tesco have offered a "service" which they are not providing.
  • I agree, people are not getting green points, hence they won't use the scheme.

Over the past couple of weeks, hardly anybody, while I have been at the checkout, are re-using bags. The novety has worn off. Too much hassle.

When I go to the checkout. I pack, and then make a point of saying, 4 or 5 reusable bags.

The points are added. But has anyone noticed, Tesco at the beginning had signs at the entrance saying ex amount of bags recycled/reused. Ex amount of bags saved. That has now gone. Seems a distance memory now!!!

The last 2 times I went I had to ask for my points too!
Thank you to all who post comps and good luck to all who enter :j
  • I think this is GREAT. I even find myself re-using bags in the other shops I visit. It might only be 1 point per bag reused but all those 1 points will add up eventually to 250 and then that will be 60 airmiles. I always try and put my bag of bags straight back in the boot of my car after unpacking so that they are always on hand. If however I do forget I have been known to go to their bag recycling bin and take from there - after all it is right outside the main doors. The only trouble is that I am running out of bags to put in my bins at home - guess I can always take from the bag recycling bin.

  • I find it a nightmare too getting the points added on, usually when I do my family shop I take 30 carrier bags with me and more often than not, unless I remind the cashier twice the points aren't added on. The trouble with me is I am usally packing or handing over money off vouchers or points vouchers so I forgot to remind them. However, the onus should be on the cashier to do this automatically and not without the shopper having to remind them. I too don't like going to CS as they usually clock how many vouchers I have used.

Whilst shopping yesterday I noticed a discarded suitcase next to a trolley and wondered if someone had actually tried using that to get the green points !

I also have noticed that not many people are actually using their own carrier bags too. I keep mine in the boot of my car at all times so I am ready and prepared !
