I have just placed an order with Scan and have been charged a 15% surcharge for delivery to Northern Ireland and I see on the TekHeads website that they say there may be a surcharge for delivery to Northern Irleand, so that a couple knocked off the A List0

Scan - that must have changed recently ... but 15% surcharge is *almost* kind of reasonable - if the delivery charge is 8 quid its and extra 1.20 unlike others who add on another 15 quid...
ive ordered a few things from tekheads without surcharge so this must be a new thing too
EDIT : just rechecked this - it is possible to choose royal mail for delivery of memory chips at least and this is not surchargedI used to have a signature with links to the League Tables for good/bad shipping charges for Northern Ireland. But I have since learnt that this is against site rules - so they are no longer here! PM me if you need them0 -
Computer parts suppliers are one of the very worst. I think the reason is that citylink have alot of the custom and they have this automatic £15 'sea crossing' surcharge irrelevant of the item. I suspect citylink have a rather limited customer base in NI for this very reason... other couriers do not surcharge so. So although UPS or DHL might be more expensive, by the time you add the surcharge they are not.
I find smaller suppliers tend to be less likely to blanket surcharge. I also find they will have better service and that with some shopping, the prices are just as good as the big stores. Hence I mostly go with small guys.2 + 2 = 4

Sorry I typed the wrong information its not a 15% surcharge it was £15
Overall they are still competitive but it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth0 -
Add SVP (Blankdiscshop) to the list. Often do 99p shipping irrespective of what the order is + they have really keen prices for discs, memory etc.0

please add any small suppliers you recommend to the above list...
It would be good to get this to a pretty exhaustive list and then post it on a website ... and send each supplier a link ... might make them think a bit...I used to have a signature with links to the League Tables for good/bad shipping charges for Northern Ireland. It's very annoying isn't it, espesically if they are using Royal Mail
https://www.kiddicare.com - £24.95 delivery to NI
https://www.toysrus.co.uk - £9.95 delivery to "remote/rural" postcodes including NI0
