Weezl and friends Phase 2 -giving it a whirl for Shirl! Testing meal plan for a month

weezl My comments were in no way meant to make you feel you'd got it wrong or you needed to change anything. I'm sorry if I gave that impression.
If we had to really cut back then I know that with the smallest of tweaks we could survive and thrive on your planner.I know everyone on here is doing all this to help bob and shirl, and we all want to build something fab for them and learn a few things ourselves in the meantime
I'm learning loads about myself and about health. I genuinely think I have been poor at attending to me and mr weezl's calcium and omega 3 intakes in the past, and I suspect that when I am 65 I shall want to come back in a tardis and snog all of you because my bones won't be riddled with osteoporosis, and Mr Weezl will have a healthier heart
can I also confess to absolutely loving the onion tart and the risi e bisi, neither of which were my ideas for inclusion at all! And sian the green got me to make scones, which I'd always been scared of, because my MIL makes them and DH loves hers and I didn't want to be inferior :rotfl:

Pasta Alfredo is the dog's rollocks
I'm lovin' it..... I did chuck a load of fresh parsley in, though - I would rather miss my herbs if they were not available, so my rule of thumb has been that if it's free it's fair game for inclusion :j
Weezl, I think that a lot of people genuinely believe that only fresh fruit and veg provide any nutritional value. I have even seen people argue that frozen does not have any nutritional benefits which is clearly not correct - but food is such an emotive subject, it can sometimes be like religion, or politics - if there is a passionate belief present, facts will often be told to go scr...ape themselves. All you can do is explain your reasoning and let people make their own minds up.
There are ways for a frugal person to eat fresh some of the time at least without breaking the bank: Aldi super 6, as Taka says, growing your own, foraging. I love summer cos then I can stop buying grapes to provide DD with purples, and send her out into the fields to have her fill of blackberries insteadComes back bright purple and happy, as long as there are no maggots about

weezl, as someone who in the past said the "must have fresh fruit" thing...IF I were to maintain that were 100% non-negotiable (which you have taught me that it IS negotiable! :T), I would personally feel that tinned fruit could make a part of that requirement, but not the whole quantity IYSWIM. Maybe it has something to do with childhood, as my mom always discouraged commercial dried fruit as a fruit "portion" since it supposedly had more sugar or something (but we did dehydrate our own apples which were nom nom nommy!).top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Weezl I was having a think - what about the possibility of a cheese savoury sandwich filler for one of the plans? It makes grated cheese go an awful lot futher, you can get veg into it like onions or little bits of peppers perhaps some tiny chopped bits of celery.
PS the steamed lentil pudding looks very interesting
PPS there is a gary rhodes one which I have veganised for visitors in that past which just used onions and 4 big field mushroomsSealed pot member 735
