the s'sheet uses raw weight, the weight of the ingred as it comes from the supermarket

Or am I missing something here?
I think I'm with you lesley, but Aless' example of the chickpeas seemed a bit more worrisome re potassium didn't it?

we're assuming that chickpeas increase by a multiplier of 2.6 on cooking, but the potassium values aless said were way out of line with that.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love it to be all ok! :) I just feel we should check now it's come up?

  • Well that's good.

Any research/random things need doing today. Looks like it should be a quiet day in work so I can hoepfully help out a bit.
  • According to this http://www.ars.usda.gov/SP2UserFiles/Place/12354500/Data/retn/retn06.pdf

legumes (so chickpeas included) when cooked by boiling for 2-2.5 hours and drained retain 65% of their raw weight potassium.

    In case that helps.

:T:T:T:Tfolate quantities of the ingredients on shirl's list would be fab :) if we use the raw weights and then I'll apply the reduction used in avocet's link?

I am keen to win back you and avocet to the team as I feel sad that some of the decisions had lost your helpful input.

So I want you both to know that it is my intention to try to build the 55p a day hardcore planner without using the hot oaty cereal.

  • The list shall be done.

You din't lose me because of decisions made about the planner! Just through wedding stuff - blame my OH :D

The hot oaty cereal is fine. I know how hard it is to do the vegan diet without supplementing (almost everyone does). I just think we should try and do one without to see what we can get. :)

Anyone in fact who has my email address, would any of you please be kind enough to save and send me the .pdf file that avocet has linked to, it seems to keep corrupting in my browser :(

    Egg-shell soup?
    Blackboard chalk?
    ;)

My Mum resigned from her job last week as she felt that her position had become untenable and she could not do the job well (which involved writing reports which have implications around keeping children safe). Any way, so my parents will go down to being a one wage family; they are not on the bread line by any means but I will send my Mum a link to the site as it could still help them adapt to the change :)
