Hi lesley, Just had a chance to look at the sheet you sent back, thanks for doing that
the things that have now gone into the red (stock items now in minus figures) am I right in thinking that's because the column which was calculating how much of everything we have left had got corrupted somehow? I'm guessing you fixed that and now it's in the red is that right?
didn't look at that col, and it's just an echo, so wouldn't get corrupted. What it was would have been to do with the adjustments of portions, and don't forget that there are those extra meals in there that will need to be readjusted once you have decided which to miss out0 -
ps no, as I'm looking more at it that can't be right...
ok one example of my confusion is walnut spread, that's now reading 3 batches. Why's that?
errr, don't know.
I made the batches match the number of batches in the planner for each of the meals, and that one should be 5. It is in the copy I have here
Have you maybe adjusted it because of the extra meals that came up?
Edit - Howlin's suggested planner has 3 walnut spreads in it0 -

Are we talking at cross purposes each using the word 'batch' differently?
I'm on about the number which displays next to the amount of ingredients and gets multiplied by it. I thought it represented a number of times a recipe was made in the month.
That's what I meant by a batch. That's the column I was worried about.
Does this help at all and are you able to help me with it at all or should I do something else.

Made a version of the veggie burgers today. Did intend to follow it to the letter apart from using liquid mustard instead of dry, but found I didn't have quite the right ingredients as I went along. Anyhow, they was delicious.
The ingredients list says roasted parsnips, so I guess we should lose the word roasted as that is what we do to them. Also should we not at least chop the parsnips into long pieces, my butternut squash was roasted and only the outside of the parsnip cooked, the core was still hard. Could we not just chop this as well as the bns?
My version was with chickpeas as I had no kidney beans. Also I ran out of instant oat cereal. I used 40g and made up the other 40g with ground almonds. Otherwise still the same and very yummy. They did take a long time to make with the roasting, but I would definately make them again. I've had 4 hot and 1 cold!!
Also there is no instructions on the oven temp for roasting or the length of time. Also the oil temp for frying.

SORRY mURRELL, iT WAS MEANT TO BE WITH THE ASDA FROZEN ROASTED PARSNIPS, (oops caps lock on!)
so they're already cut up, and I think par cooked
I'm glad you made such a terrific success of them though despite that!

DD made the bread & doughnuts today (with some supervision, mainly due to the hot oil). She is fairly confident in the kitchen, and also made a trifle today, with the ‘value’ jelly & ‘discount brand’ fruit cocktail (total 36p) already in the fridge to set before I even got up!
Anyway, if an 11-year old child can follow the recipe I don’t think you need to worry too much about Shirl. I quartered the ingredients & we had 1 loaf & 6 doughnuts. It was really straightforward & rose loads, and tastes like – HM bread & sugared doughnuts. DD’s response was ‘Hmm, not bad!’
Only thing was that I have no idea what gas 1 equates to for centigrade in a fan oven (warming flour) & at the baking time it also only give gas mark 6, though the conversions for this are at the top.0 -

I'm really glad it worked out for DD.
we tried another batch and DH made 60 doughnuts and has now eaten 45 of them!
He is luckily a tall slim man with a speedy metabolism!
Does anyone know what I should say instead of gas mark 1 for a fan oven?

Have looked it up now! Delia gives gas mark 1 as 275F or 140C, so maybe just put those in brackets after gas mark 1? For the purposes of warming flour I don't think it needs a fan oven adjustment.
Off to watch Dr Who now!0 -
Inspired by your doughnuts weezl I have been messing with the paul merritt bread recipe. Cue one large loaf, three small iced buns and 12 apple and spice whirls. Very nice indeed.Sealed pot member 735
