Phrew, just caught up on the last 3 days. We haven't had internet in the area until this evening.

I also did the new nut and kidney bean loaf and didn't like it. I was also tempted to throw it, but I thought if I smoothered it in baked beans next time it would taste ok and thats what I did today and it was better. Still got some left to smoother in gravy tomorrow. Not a recipe to repeat, but I loved the original.

Oh no I think Weezl has gone to bed-can anyone think of any jobs I could do??

Shanks you are official secretary any ideas?? if not no worries.

Sorry got sidetracked reading Julimks link. If you fancy trawling back thru the thread and looking for some positive feedback about the planner that would be great. I think Weezl is more looking for how the meal was good not just "this is a great site" kind of thing IYSWIM
Or if you fancy you could give us your ideas on how to poach a chicken as you sounded like you hadnt done it before this thread (apologies if i am making false assumtions) and it would be a good step by step guide for Shirl

Query on the 90 calories shown for Marmalade.

If this for a 20g portion as stated in recipe is very high as there is only 90g of sugar in the whole recipe.

Bigjenny - have checked the spreadsheet and the 90 cals includes the slice of bread to put it on

    well spotted

No worries, but I think I might stop for tonight sorry :o

Mr arty has finished his revision and we have gone through every derivation likely to come up as well as working out every possible result in each exam in the last four years for him to get to get a first overall. My brain is a little frazzled and I am finding it suprisingly hard to be supportive. I think it is because it is quite obvious to me he will be fine but he obviously does not have the same confidence.

Anywho-I am not sure if I will be able to come on for the next week or so as I am going away and being cool. We are going to the Isle of Wight festival so will be singing along to Jay-Z and Paul McCartney. FB friends will be able to see the piccies when I get back!! Hopefully I will be able to pop on before we leave but if not hope you all have a lovely week.

just looking again at morags faqs....what was it folk didn't like about the photography of the vitamins, I thought it was quite a crisp clean bright shot?
as others have said, I think it gives the wrong subliminal message in this context.

why can't we say that the fresh fruit has been hanging around for longer making the tinned/dried etc a good choice? I was really glad to have found that out, so I thought it might help shirl? it didn't read right to me when fresh spuds ARE on the shopping list, pointing out that spuds weren't fresh

So now we have a website, and I'm looking at it... and it doesn't 'say' subsistence to me! good, Shirl will be all the more likely to love it!
I don't want to produce a drab, ugly site (I care a lot about aesthetics) but this one is maybe giving a wrong message? absolutly not! do you really feel subsistance is drab and ugly? surely you want to encourage Shirl to use it?

I've been mortgage and debt free for the last 10 years, please don't ban me from using your site just cos I'm not a Shirley ;)

I said I'd do this as and when I had the time :o It does take a while cos you have to virtually read every post! If it is time critical then let me know.

  • Found this on Tim Ferris' blog ( him of the 4hr work week book, which I am trying to wrestle from the hands of OH). A friend had sent it to him.

Robustness is when you care more about the few who like your work than the multitude who hates it (artists); fragility is when you care more about the few who hate your work than the multitude who loves it (politicians).

    Seemed apt :D
