    Why would they bother coming?

Good question ! I don't know, but people like that do. Guess it gives them something to be miserable about :D

Yes. Also feel that I shouldn't count on anyone because that wouldn't be how it's meant to be online, and that to lean too much on others would kill the project.

Oh Weezl, I really don't know about "it's not how it's meant to be". I met my other half online, I don't believe that the medium puts restrictions on anything, really. In fact, with me it's the real life that always holds me back, lol.

Just personal opinion here, but I really do think that if there is anything more you need from people here, you only need to ask. And - I'm sure you know this already, but I have to say it anyway - if people ever say "please do not ask if you are not sure I can deliver", that's only cos they are scared of letting you down, not cos they want to keep you at an arm's length :D

Good points arty and susan. It looks a bit like a criticism perhaps to people. So they feel attacked psychologically, although we are not attacking. So then they counter with 'well it's unhealthy!' so we then feel attacked, and so it continues.

So I guess we/I must just make it clear it is not a criticism.

Hmmmn, can a website do that?
I'm not sure it can - I think it is the very existence of it that can be perceived as an attack and for some people the only way to satisfy them would be to say that they are right and the whole concept of the website is completely wrong.

So for example I have (had) a friend who threw a fit at me on Facebook for being part of the Paper Baby Campaign. She took the very existence of such a campaign as a personal attack on her and her choices. Having spent considerable time reflecting on what happened, I think the only way I could have satisfied her would have been to immediately say, "Yes you are right, I shouldn't believe...." My taking part in the campaign communicates to her that I think she should not have taken a particular action and no amount of disclaimers would make any difference.

Obviously that is a particularly extreme example because it is a more emotive topic but inevitably the existence of the planner is going to make some people feel criticised because it says that some other people feel strongly enough that they should do something differently that we have made a whole website about it. Obviously the motivation for doing the planner is to help people and not to criticise them but no matter what disclaimers we put on, some people will choose to take it as criticism and we are not responsible for their response to it.

It's beyond my comprehension but some people seem to enjoy that kind of thing. Last year I was following the blog of a lady who had a little girl with anencephaly. She had to disable comments and delete her Facebook account because of all the hate messages she was getting.

don't have anything new to add to all the supportive comments, except to say that I agree with ALL of them

we had a meeting where I live re speed limits and to discuss the work done by the local councillors and what they had achieved - a new crossing, reduced speed limits, new signs etc.
The meeting was pretty much hi-jacked by people complaining about un-related things (that's all very well, but what about the width of the pavement, I can't walk my child to school), the 40 years it had taken to get this far (and the councillors were supposed to do what about that?) and general fault finding and nit-picking.

Sometimes people need to get all the frustration out, it's not personal. Sometimes people really do need to get a life, and that's def not personal.

If you or I put something out in the public arena, I would bet extremely large amounts of money that vitriol will arrive from somewhere. We can't make it not happen, all we can change is our response to it

Off to put the chicken and mushroom pie in the oven. Recipe as chicken and onion, mushrooms added - I am using recipes from here most days, have greatly reduced my food spending, have learnt a lot about nutrition, made some new friends. What I have contributed to the project is small payment for what I have received back, indeed, many people would pay lots of cash to get it

I love the new features weezl. Especially the calories and fat sections:D

Spanish omelette tonight with wedges for the men, frozen brocolli for me. We were already living a very frugal life, or so I thought, but weezl's ideal (and everyone else who has contributed to it) has helped me to save more.
