I am making a batch of loaves either tonight or tomorrow morning, and have golden syrup, oranges to be zested, and garam. No fresh ginger though.

[FONT="]Bombay Bites with Spicy Tomato Sauce[/FONT]
[FONT="]Bombay Bites:[/FONT]
[FONT="]75g Breadcrumbs[/FONT]
[FONT="]1 Onion, finely chopped[/FONT]
[FONT="]2tsp Garlic [/FONT]
[FONT="]400g can Chick Peas, drained or equivalent prepared from dried.[/FONT]
[FONT="]2tsp Yeast Extract[/FONT]
[FONT="]Freshly ground pepper.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Spicy Tomato Sauce:[/FONT]
[FONT="]1 Onion, finely chopped[/FONT]
[FONT="]2tbsp Vegetable Oil[/FONT]
[FONT="]1tsp Yeast Extract[/FONT]
[FONT="]2tsp Garam Masala[/FONT]
[FONT="]1tsp Chilli powder or a fresh home grown red chilli[/FONT]
[FONT="]400g can Chopped Tomatoes[/FONT]
[FONT="]Freshly ground pepper[/FONT]
[FONT="]Vegetable Oil for frying[/FONT]
[FONT="]To prepare the sauce, cook the onion in the oil with yeast extract, garam masala and chilli until soft. Add the tomatoes & pepper and cook to reduce slightly for 15-20mins.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Mix together all the ingredients for the bites in a food processor. Shape the mixture into 16-18 bite-sized balls.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Shallow fry the bites for 2-3 mins on each side, until lightly browned.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Serve them, hot or cold ( we like them hot in every sense of the word!), with the sauce.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Serves 4-6[/FONT]
[FONT="]Savoury Pumpkin Seeds[/FONT]
[FONT="]1 tbsp Yeast Extract[/FONT]
[FONT="]1tbsp boiling water[/FONT]
[FONT="]150g Pumpkin Seeds[/FONT]
[FONT="]Dissolve the yeast extract in the boiling water. Place the pumpkin seeds in the grill pan, pour the yeast extract liquid over and toss them until well coated.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Cook under a preheated grill for 4-5mins stirring occasionally, until toasted.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Allow to cool, then separate the seeds, leaving them in small clumps.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Store in an air tight jar if you can stop them being consumed immediately.[/FONT]

Brokebuthappy, I'm sorry your savoury bites weren't nice... Murrell likes them but her version has oil not lard, which would make for a softer less dry mouthfeel...
OK so we have 2 versions of Kitty's second batch idea being tested tonight/tomorrow. Weezl tests, with pith and zest of orange, 140g golden syrup, and 40g fresh ginger.
Allegra tests: with garam, orange zest and golden syrup.
Keen to see verdicts there
Did folk think the red pepper hummus looked ok?
