update for Morag: Think we've made some headway on the outward links front, so will probably be able to give you the go ahead quite soon :D

Great :D is this any good?

Martin Lewis' MoneySavingExpert is an excellent site for all types of money saving. It contains guides on everything from switching gas and electricity suppliers to reclaiming bank charges as well as the best offers and deals on shopping, financial products, travel and eating out. Be sure to check out the forum, a friendly place to ask questions and pick up tips!

MySupermarket is a useful way of comparing the prices of groceries and household goods from Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco and ocado (Waitrose). The site also contains some limited product and nutritional information and home delivery can be arranged.

All sorts of clearance and short dated food and drink is available from Approved Food at vastly reduced cost. The company delivers to most areas of the U.K. and is well worth browsing as it sometimes offers items used in our recipes.

The Government's Food Standards Agency gives a wealth of information on Healthy Eating for all ages plus tips for safe food handling and storage.

Freecycle have groups in most areas of the country where people can offer their unwanted household items to others who can use them and request items they want. A great way of picking up kitchen equipment for free and decluttering your house. Freegle is a similar site.

There are lots of tips and advice to help cut down on waste and so save money on food bills on the Love Food hate waste site and recycling and composting information of their partner site Recycle now.

Any one got any other ideas? personally I'm not sure about linking to Transition Towns, but will include if you wish.

Goodnight crazy late night people! I just finished writing my talk and sent it off, then had to clear up the coffee I had spilled on our cream lounge carpet, boo to being clumsy!

  • Morag that's fab.

Does it need something about the debt charities as that was one of Weezl's main stated aims in doing this?

    What ya chattin about Sian?

I used to teach and train on stuff before my brain turned to cheese rinds!

Ha d pasta funghi for tea, was easy peasy and nom. One of things I am noticing about trying these recipes is that the food is simpler. I wouldn't normally only have one thing and it's making me notice how much we over eat and how over complex it is sometimes.
Eat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.

Transition towns is rather a localised thing isn't it so would only apply to a minority. Would it be worth specifying particular areas of MSE that would be relevent e.g. OS board as a place for asking cookery questions? Not saying it is necessarily - just bringing it up as an idea.

I am still very happy to do it just let me know what it is that is needed.

morag Can I please suggest Freegle as well of, or istead of, Freecycle. I am a moderator for them and they now have more members than Freecycle?
