Right sag aloo is made. As usual it will be better tomorrow ( if it lasts that long!!). It's yummy, very filling, a huge big portion ( I just had a half portion for lunch). I do however, have a suggestion. Personally I dont like it as much as the old one. The new one on its own is nom, just not as nom as the old one, might just be me.

I would like to suggest that this becomes 2 dishes, and looks more posh on the plate! If the sag aloo reverts to its old form of just onion, spinach, spices and potato, then that frees up the tomato and lentils to be cooked together with some more spices to be a daal. I think it would make an appealing looking plate ( something the original sag suffered with, I used to add tumeric for colour) and still have all the cals/nutrients/5 a day your recipe was trying to provide.

Also, in the funghi pasta recipe it mentions olive juice, but then doesnt add it and it also adds the seasonings twice.

Weezl: if my house sells and OH divorces we can buy a place of our own ( oh, and get married of course :-$). We rent atm and it all feels a bit tenuous. If the other bits of my life can be sold, we are having a year off!!!!!

    hornetgirl and murrell,

the nut roast you tried, 2 thoughts, it is likely to be the costliest and most protein rich meal in the vegan planner. To share the protein out a little more, do you think it could cope with being a little less nutty?:)

Yes I think that would work. Perhaps don't crush the peanuts up so small, then it might look more nutty even though it isn't, if that makes sense. I crushed mine by putting them in a bag and bashing with a rolling pin (I don't have anything so fancy as a food processor - but have high hopes for birthday on Saturday lol), so I guess it would be a matter of just bashing a bit less violently.

Poohbear was working on a "how to guide"
Also we were talking about a glossary of terms ie poaching, basting, searing etc

I have been trying to catch up. Having read two days of posts I am very impressed by the things that you have all been doing.

Can someone remind me what I was doing for a 'how to guide', please?:o

I went on my first seminar on how to set up a business run by the tax office today,so my brain is a bit mashed.

How to get dough off your hands when kneading, dip in flour.

Chicken pie, I would also mix my flour in with the onions and cook before adding the liquid a little at a time before reheating whilst stirring constantly but as the pie had been tested by adding flour to water I left it like that.

I can't remember who made the above comment. But I do agree with you.:)

weezl re the temperature at the top of the page, I would usually put it as the first step in a recipe, after the ingredients. e.g. Preheat oven to .......
grease baking sheet, line tin etc.
Then the method for the recipe

I hope that makes it a bit clearer.:) Off to bed now as I have just made my four loaves and they are out of the oven.
