No add in the sweetcorn straight from freezer no cooking makes the recipe even easier. Not sure about the croatian salad will put it on my nag weezl list however i dont see it listed to be served with anything what meal is it served with HG?

Thanks for the sweetcorn info. How easy is that!

I don't think the Croatian salad is actually listed as being served with anything, but I have a vague notion that during testing people used it as an alternative to wedges and it got favourable feedback. Might have been with the Spanish omelette?
  • I read the list of recommended equipment....where are we getting 2lb loaf tins for £1 from?

(My local ASDA sells them for £2.75...?)

you get MILLIONS of runner beans from 20 plants, we eat them ad nauseum. I don't preserve any as I think home frozen ones are disgusting and I haven't found any other method I like. So I give away kilos and kilos of them over the season, along with rhubarb as my contribution to the friendship thingy

Have you ever made runner bean pickle? I went out with a guy whose Mum made it, absolutely delicious and pretty easy too! I made it myself when I was a younger lass. I would highly recommend it, and would make a great Christmas gift (for me at the meet in Sept ;) he he)

This recipe sounds like the one I used

Tried both the poundshops nearest to me (within 3 miles or so) and no luck - I'll keep my eye open though, cos their stock changes frequently.

THANK YOU! I bought some frozen runner beans by mistake recently, and I can't STAND runner beans!! (Although I LOVE "fine" beans)...

I shall try pickling them :money:

I think a 'reading list' will be a good idea for gardening/other books which help with cutting food waste. However I dont think we should come across as too preachy as it puts some people off. Sometimes I think that happens on the O/S board when people get into a competition about how little they spend and sometimes it can come across as a little smug.

Just my opinions of course though.

I'm still writing this bloody thing-think it will be a late night for me tonight....:(

    Arty,

I'm sure you have already thought of this, but just one word, SAVE.
My daughter was just at the end of her dissertation prior to becoming a teacher and somehow, she lost the lot. Good Luck to you, hope you are getting there, sometimes thinking about it is worse than doing it.
