Weezl and friends Phase 2 -giving it a whirl for Shirl! Testing meal plan for a month

I have to say I prefer the Garlic one... It just seems more artistic and inviting to me and I prefer it with the green pumpkin seeds frame (or whatever it is called). I think they together look inviting without being too brash. I can also tell at a glance what it is - I'd have no idea what banner 2 was if you hadn't already said it was pasta.
Then again are we actually using garlic cloves/bulbs at any point in the planners?
I'm no help at all am I! *please ignore* :rotfl:Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Lesley, not at all in a nagging way, just so my dad knows what order to do his next jobs in, do you have any sense of when you might have a list of calories/fat grams per portion/meal for him to enter into an HTML table?

had to put all the nutritional info in the month one planner, which I hadn't realised when I first volunteered. All done now, and am doing the cals etc info as we speak.
I am matching the ingredients against what is current on the website so that it calculates the right nutritional info, a few changes, but not huge so far
here are the first few
hmm, that didn't paste in very well. I'll load it to the workspace (if I can remember how we did it!) I am doing it on a separate worksheet on the sheet you sent me called Scones - does a worksheet suit your Dad?

Edit - that answer was a 'what' not a 'when' wasn't it! I should have it done either this eve, or tom, depending on what's on telly tonight!0 -

Claw back money, I got such a great impression of you as a mum from your post; the fact that your son called you about that offer, and knew you would have a great recipe, and knew that if he called you after cooking you would be really proud of himI think you are right that people may not adopt the whole plan but it could still change the way they cook and eat and shop.
CBM, thank you
Can you please say a bit more about whether we're doing that bit I've put in bold on the site currently?
Re straightforward in terms of language, ingredients and kitchen equipment - yes, I think that's been the aim and the beauty of the project from day one. There has been lots of thought and chatter on the website about things like storage and kitchen equipment, and as you've supported people through trialling the recipes you've seen what bits of kitchen stuff are needed to make the recipes. I think there was some talk about a page on 'kit' which could suggest substitutes so people understand its more an art than a science and you don't need to buy a particular bowl/tray to make the recipe work. Each little amendment makes the language better, but all the pages I've seen are clear and helpful without being condescending.
Re your other question, neatly turning my question 'how can I help' back to mewell I've had a thought, I'm not sure if it is too tacky / silly / unhelpful or labour intensive in terms of translating into a webpage, but what about a quiz which gives lots of answers and encouragement to the reader. If anyone thought it helpful I think I could come up with some creative questions, but I can't do all the webby bits. I'll sketch out what I mean in the next post with a demo question; its very rough and ready but will give you an idea.

How much can this website help you?
1. Think about how much you spend on food each month. Do you:
a) Need to reduce your spending immediately as soon as possible?
b) Hope to reduce your spending on food, but you’re not sure how?
c) Not care how much you spend?
Click on (a) (b) or (c) The answers click through to the relevant para and then give a link to the next question:
a) Great! This site can help you immediately reduce your spending by giving you a pre-made menu and shopping list which will feed a family of four for £100 a month! The nutrients have all been checked and the recipes tested by a panel for tastiness and to check they suited all members of the family.
Question 2
…………………………..
b) You’re in the right place! This site can help by suggesting daily menus for a whole month, which will cut your spending down to £100 for a family of four for a month! But don’t worry, the recipes are nutritionally balanced and have been tried and tested by busy families.
Question 2
…………………………….
c) You’re very lucky not to be worrying about the amount you spend on food. [insert stat on amount spent per person]. On this site you will find some great tried and tested recipes, together with meal plans and shopping lists which can help when you’re in a hurry. As the plans are nutritionally balanced so you can be sure you will get your five-a-day and all your vitamins.
Question 2
Other questions could be:
2. The planner has been designed for a family of 2 adults and 2 children. Do you normally cook for
a) 2 adults and 2 children
b) one person
c) one adult and 2 or more children
d) more than 4 people
3. How much do you like cooking?
4. How much kitchen equipment do you have?
5. How much storage space do you have?
It could be a way of reassuring Shirleys that the site can still help, even if they don't have a Weezl sized family with a ISOM supplied kitchen! I would think up to 10 questions, giving links to other bits of the site, suggest a first recipe, what if you don't have £100 to do the first shop, what if you don't like peas etc. Just helping Shirley to get started.Jan 08: Debt £15,211  Debt cleared April 30th 2010Proud to have dealt with my debt! I wonder if having a finished recipe rather than an ingredient in the banner makes it more inviting and make speople want to try a recipe? I never thought there was anything wrong with the garlic but the other one does seem more warm and inviting to me.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

what a clever idea CBM ( and how clever that no matter what she answers we can help:rotfl:)
Please do expand your thinking still further and we'll all chip in with our twopennorth?
I'm guessing this is also the way when all 3 planners are live when she finds out if she's a shirley, a kitty or a whatsherface?

Well, I did have the very naughty though that if the answer to the first question was (c) that we could just give them this link and leave them to it!
When you say expand, at this stage do you mean more questions, more answers, or is this an idea that realistically should be 'parked' as there are other priorities? (PS please be honest, I'm fairly thick-skinned and will just dream up another idea if this one isn't good, or not good for now!)Jan 08: Debt £15,211  Debt cleared April 30th 2010Proud to have dealt with my debt!
