    First Months Recipes

Hi arty, can you delete the ones I've crossed out, just to avoid any confusion?

Does chutney need to be taken off that list, too ?

Weezl, would you like me to have another go at the biscuits? Or can I try scones without the milk to see what happens? I found with the savoury ones I cut them out with a metal egg cup and they were only a couple of bites each which meant they didn't seem to need a spread, maybe with Aless's idea of putting a salt water 'glaze' on them they would have that extra kick!

Can the pizza dough be made and frozen before cooking and if it can does it need to be rolled out?

weezl How many batches of the nutty butter, apple curd, flim-flam, houmous, bean pate and lunch time pate can be made for the month?

You can freeze it in the balls but my housemate rolls ours out thinly then puts it on oiled foil in the freezer and then when it comes to cooking it she puts it straight in the oven after topping it, delish !

Yes, and no. That is to say - yes, it can be frozen, and no, it doesn't need to be rolled out. So, depending on time and freezer space you can either

freeze it in batch-sized lumps (I find it best to put the lumps on a baking tray, then peel them off the next morning when fully frozen and pop them in plastic bags

Roll it out and part bake, then freeze as pizza bases (can be spread with topping and cooked straight from frozen)

or make up pizzas in full, freeze and then cook straight rom frozen

weezl I was looking at my weekly batch cooking to-do list for a monday and after feeling so tired yesterday was wondering if I could just do a batch a week of everything.
Because I'm cooking for 6 it probably works out that I can do almost 1 batch or half a batch each week.
Just trying to make it easy for myself.

Thanks for the dough info. Think I'll put that on my monday list too and then freeze in balls.

Weezl yes the porridge is a bit smoother with the addition of the hot oat cereal i think it makes it a little sweeter as well with a nice mouth feel than i remember porridge. I am prob converted now.
Just made the bean pate and it has come out a lot runnier than the last one i made wonder if it because i measured everything this time instead of my guesstimating

    Sorry to confuse you Weezl

The Cream of Tomato Soup recipe is listed in post 3 of this thread under Other Recipes, but links back to Phase 1.

Have read this months menu and realise that it not on the list.

    Sorry.

Sitting down with a cuppa and a piece of carrot cake...yum yum

I've just started my chicken pie filling, I'm going to do both pies at once.

I've realised that I made 2 lots of houmous instead 1 and a half, oopps. Everything else seems to be going to plan, though.

Should I eat my Easter chocolate?
