Hi Kezlou
Shoppping list shows Rajah Chilli, Garam Malasa and Garlic Powder.
Couldn't find this brand on Mr T's and Mr S's website.
Would it be worth changing it to Basics, cheapest or something along those lines as people think they may have to use this brand.
Jenny
thanks Jenny will have a look for another version of them tonight /tomorrow to put on the list.
weezl74:- oops sorry about that i had no idea, i'll do that nowOh and yes the pic of spoon of sugar is fab, much better than the bowl
Thanks everyone for your help! ?Your all stars!
Will catch up with the rest of the thread in a sec.
Quick question :- do we have to have raisins as the fruit for porridge /carrot cake as they are quite expensive in Sainsburys. But they sell basics mixed fruit and sultanas quite cheap. Just thinking out loud as another option to keep the shopping list down.0 -

I used Sultanas in the Carrot Cake as it was all I had in the cupboard and it turned out fine.."When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us" Alexander Graham Bell0 -

I think sultanas would be an acceptable alternative. I prefer Raisins, but would happily substitute them with Sultanas.
It perhaps isn't be the case in more expensive brands of raisins and sultanas, but like for like, I think most people would be hard pressed to notice the difference between raisins & sultanas in the basics/value/sp range.
I've recently bought Mr A's SP Raisins and Sultanas, and @ 65p for 500g I can't fault them. In fact, I say hallelujah at that priceAug11 £193.29/£240

I too think this is essential. Put a disclaimer on every time, by all means - something like "you do not need to rush out and buy new tin, you'll still be able to make the cake if you only have a smaller/bigger tin, but if you make the carrot cake in a tin this size, it'll easily slice into 32 rectangles" or whatever. But as Shirley will probably have several tins lurking at the back of the cupboard, let her know which size to use - and if she has no tins, we don't want her going out and buying the wrong size, now do we ?
I agree.
Did Ceridwen's essential implements list not have a details of implements that could be dual or thrice purpose ....
Maybe a list of "if you dont have this, you could use this" could be implemented frome the essentials list.poohbear59 wrote: »Sorry I have not been about today. We have taken delivery of our ASDA order and are starting our month again after a week off. It shows how successful it was for us:D0 -

I also used both in porridge and carrot cake and to be honest i didnt notice the difference. I am sure that there people out there who would but if they are cheaper i dont see why not xx0 -

I think a rough guide for tin sizes would be good especially as you may be daft like me and use a tin far to small for a cake and end up with burnt cake batter all over the oven.
Maybe something like 'use an overproof dish or tin at least 7inches across. a square one would make it easiest to cut into even pieces but don't worry if you've only got a round one.'
(Don't worry my cake batter disaster wasn't based on one of these recipes!)0 -
Weezl, Saag Aloo Gobi should be called Saag Aloo, as gobi means cauliflower, which this dish - mercifully - does not contain
It was replaced by a lasagna from the freezer, from the recipe on your blog, but with HM lasagne sheets.
One word: nom ! And another word: filling
Ah! Are tomatoes a no-no chez Allegra? Is DD not keen?
Gobi will go!
