  • I'm not keen on beer, can I swop for wine or maybe gin? Does gin count as one of my 5 a day as it has juniper berries in? Or wine coz it has grapes in :D:D:D (tongue firmly in cheek)

We had pizza tonight cause DH is away. I'll probably do chilli tomorrow, or freeze it for a 'ready meal' and have the chicken tomorrow.
I find a roast tricky to do on a Sunday.

It's all going ok here, though...:)

sandra/frugalmumof4, can I please ask for some vegan recipe help?:A

Whilst some of us have found vegan pastry ok made with oil, SR flour and water, others have found it tricky. This could be for many reasons including temperatures of our houses or hands or even our tap water.

So I wondered if you could see if there's a more fool proof vegan pastry.

The only thing is, could it please not contain that really expensive 'pure' margerine, cos I don't think Kitty and James can afford it :rotfl::o

Also sandra, I've been looking more into selenium. I think we've got 42% of RDA met already through the flour and rice in the planner, and one or two other small contributors. So my maths is that we need 2 bags of brazil nuts (ie 400g) to top up the remaining 58%. Does that roughly tally up with the figures you have? :)

I totally agree this needs to be delivered through the nut spread, since they ideally need to eat it a minimum of every other day, and by combining with the other nuts and having for breakfast seems ideal.

I'm planning on fortifying the bread with the milled oaty cereal, so that that breakfast is calcium rich too :)

I've not made any pastry for a long long time, so not much help with the pastry. Perhaps post the question on the vegan thread. Vitalite is vegan and much cheaper than pure.

I will take your word for it on the selenium, I only know how many brazil nuts you need to meet your requirement. I haven't tried working out other products as I just think the UK soil is unreliable, but this sounds like a good way and of course the rice won't be grown in the UK, so hopefully somewhere its not depleted. So yes lets go with the 400g of brazil nuts in a nut butter.

Has the veganised chickpea crumble been dropped from the planner?

    Bye for now
    Sandra

Shanks, sorry you're not getting the sunshire. It's been glorious here (Herts) for the last few days.

Sadly, a failure to report today. Neither of us liked the bean curry. It was edible and filling, but just didn't do it for either of us. Not one we'll be having again I'm afraid. It seemed to be missing something, but not sure what!

    phew caught up at last! Now before I forget;
I have tasted the pumkin pie ad its yummy. The pastry isnt great but thats cos its veganised so hasnt got butter so I would def make it but with ordinary pastry...
Arty am sorry to hear your tale...if its any help in desperation I did lighterlife (a while before I met weezl) and went from a 22 to an 8/10. Initially I felt great (starvation, not they admit its that but at 500 cals a day what else can it be eh! actually makes you feel a bit high but you cant concentrate and chairing meetings is a nightmare) but having been rubinesque for most of my life the skin doesent ping back and parts of my anatony resembled crepe paper and old socks...Much to my surprise I didnt like it!! Well whoda thunked eh! ISOM likes her curves...she admittedly has a few too many curves (contrary to hr own comment weezl is in no way chubby and youd never know she just had a baby!) at the moment and would like to shift some but not too much cos well that just wouldnt be me!! Big hug for you because despite the above comments like that hurt but as weezl says she probably a sad, unhappy woman with maggots eating away inside her cos shes sooooo unhappy :) You sound gorgeous to me...lovely curves and gorgeous locks plus a yummy mr arty who probably loves you more each day...specialy now you can COOK!!!
ISOM signing off with hugs and pats on backs plus the hope that weezl slows down; enjoys kester while hes soo teeny weeny ...the world needs saving all the time me lovely and I think all will agree that this time is precious for you as a family so slow down and enjoy cos blink and youll miss it!
