  • Good luck for tomorrow MSD:D

Have had a carp day:(. DS just not coping with school hols at all. There is nothing for him to do and no where we can take him. He has not been interested in anything I have tried to do today and has had meltdown after meltdown:o.
I do not know how I am going to get through the next 2 weeks with him and it is making me really anxious.
Other people on here with kids with ASD what did you used to do in the hols? The only things on offer are sports or arts and crafts related which he wont do.
I tried making a timetable with him last week but when I asked him to help me make a list of what we could do he came up with things like "pretend to be a radio!"
Am off for a coffee and a choc egg:(

Sorry to hear he's not doing so well x

When he means "pretend to a be a radio" does he mean as in being a DJ? Anyway of sourcing some "equipment" for him to use in pretending to be a radio eg Freecycle/Freegle? Anything I guess that looks electronic, turntables etc - would that help at all?

Do you have local support group? My area does and they have access to places during the hols for children with special needs eg they have exclusive access to Wacky Warehouse for the morning etc. Not sure that would help Noah as it's not part of his routine but do they offer you any support for keeping them busy???

Noahspennilessmum - stay strong - tomorrow is a new day. Are there any local support groups of families in similar situations? I'm sure I've seen a thread on netmums but can't find it at the mo :o

Tomorrow I've planned arts/crafts and board games and may be making some belated Easter biscuits and then if weather is ok drop them off at friends houses.

    Hugs for Diva for tomorrow.

NPM my oldest DS is Aspie kid, and the lack of routine is a big problems for him. Our local dog's trust is having a kids' event one of the days where they can see how the dog's are looked after etc., which as a new dog owner he is really interested in! Didn't you say your boy liked cats? (I hope that's right) Maybe if there's an RSPCA place or cat rescue about you could take him to? Oldest DS is also intrigued by museums, so we tend to do that a lot, and of course good old lego!

Echoing what Bitsy said, Science Museum have a crystal radio kit I'm sure, souldn't that keep him amused for a while?

ETA the radio kit seems to be out of stock but I found this http://www.worldwideshoppingmall.co.uk/toys/sound.asp

this also looks fab and is a lot cheaper http://www.worldwideshoppingmall.co.uk/toys/seeing-sound.asp

    Hi again,

Rosyred, the bread came out pretty well. I made 6 rolls and a small cob loaf. We ate the rolls for luch (DS was here) and they went down well. I think the loaf is a bit dense. Hopefully practice will make perfect

Hi Snoozer, glad your bread turned out well, but it wasnt me asking about it,but Butterfly Brain

My rolls often turn out better than my loaves,if I hand bake, don't know why - keep practising :D
