Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Monday 5th April. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning
Hi there. Bank holiday, so loafing about. I can never lie in, so I guess it's just play about for a while.
Enjoyed good church yesterday, good Sunday lunch and then sat down to watch the Grand prix that I had recorded.... WHY did they switch channels half way through???????????
Why not just do it all on BBC 2? So I missed the last half of the race... Thank God for the BBC i player....
Walked around my garden in the afternoon as the sun came out for the first time in 2 weeks. What a mess.... hours of work to be done... The seeds I started look terrible too in the greenhouse, must be too cold. The snails have eaten some already... Why bother really?
Today I hope to get some jobs done......
Well folks have a good day

Morning N9eav & all who cross/follow
cool and raining here atm so i hope that it brightens up later.
I had a good check on my plants yesterday afternoon and i`m debating whether to try a few of them in the unheated greenhouse or not *scratches chin* I`ve got a few so if i try just a couple and the worst happens then it won`t be the end of the world, its just that a few of them are outgrowing my windowsill
Not a lot to report really as i`m w*rking again today, its really quiet here atm but i think that this is the calm before the storm as most peeps will be at a loose end and won`t want to stay inside, the traffic was almost non existent again so here`s hoping for a quiet day.
Have a lovely bank holiday peeps, relax and enjoy.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning.
thanks for the all best wishes re my Gran. She's still taken to her bed and the paramedic told my grandad that if she's still not eating and drinking in the next two days she's to go to Dr's or hospital. She was like this before Christmas and she's still got some anti sickness tablets so hopefully she's remembering to take these and finally eat and drink.
I am now sporting a lovely blister on the side of my middle finger  Gosh I was sooooo stupid. I'd left a baking tray in the oven and was cooking some buns. took the tray out using oven glove and then out of habit then picked it up with no oven glove on  Yes I swore and yes the kids were around but OMG it hurt. Two other fingers got burnt but fortunately not blistered. Ended up having to take an painkiller as after 2 hours it was really hurting. No pain now thankfully just have to make sure I don't pop the blister
H still in bed, he didn't sleep well. Not sure what plans are for today. It's dull and wet here so not very inspiring for Spring.
Tea tonight.......I have some of the ham left over to eat so might use it in a pasta bake. need to look at the meal planner and see what's going on for this week.
Not much else going on OS wise
Have a good bank holiday OS or not. Hugs to those that need them.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning everyone :hello:
Day off today so I have time to post.
Ouch! Bitsy. Hope the fingers heal soon... x
We had a lovely day yesterday. Work was manic but I finished at 3pm and came home to a nice walk and made the roast lamb. Also did hot cross bun bread and butter pud which everyone loves
We were planning a picnic in the woods today but it is absolutely lashing with rain. I've just been out in it to put a tarpaulin over the hens' run and it's very wet. SO we'll have a rethink. Possibly some board games. I am desperate to get out and plant things in the garden. OH is nearly finished the treehouse which looks great, I'd forgotten how talented he is with woodwork (and has been made from alll recycled wood) so I want to plant everything that is ready to go into the ground now that there isn't timber lying everywhere. Tea will be shepherd's pie from last night's lamb.
I am settling into more of a routine with the housework again and managing to fit it in around work. OH has taken over the big jobs like hoovering and floor washing and he is cooking alot more. Today I really need to iron some bedding and tidy the bedrooms. I may even get the knitting out tonight as I only have a few more weeks to knit some toys for visiting nephew and neice.
Well if anyone is still awake after that post :rotfl::o have a great day.

Hi everyone. Hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday.
Bitsy - hope the fingers heal soon; burns are so painful, especially on the fingers because you're constantly using them.
At the risk of annoying everyone, it's lovely and sunny here. As usual, we start off with a hard frost, but it's gone by mid-morning and today promises to be warm enough to have elevenses outside in the garden.
DH is starting on beam-removing up in the attic. We are turning it into bedrooms but one huge 400-year old beam is bowing and splitting and needs replacing. It'll be great to get in there without all the acro props holding up the ceiling! Part of the roof needs replacing, too, and that will be done once the beam has been replaced. Then it's downstairs to knock down a wall between the kitchen and the little room next to it, vaulting one ceiling, bricking up a door and turning a window into French doors, then installing the kitchen - I shall finally be rid of the horrid china sink I have here, with its miniscule draining board. The sink will go in the utility room where it will be handy but not so much on show. During all this, we have BIL coming up on Saturday for a week to help upgrade the central heating so, a lot of upheaval but a lot will have been achieved by the end of it. Of course, I will be bald and mad by then!
It's good that DH has help with all this - I don't think I'd be much help with all the big jobs.
Well, dinner tonight is bubble-and-squeak, with sausages and beans, always a favourite here.
Well, I hope you all have a good day.

Morning All
Enjoyed yesterday - pottering and cooking (and eating) but my joints were screaming when the painkillers wore off last night! worth it tho, everyonereally enjoyed dinner ....twins even re-heated leftovers for their supper last night and DH appears to have 'helped' by eating the rest of the lemon meringue cake.......
Breakfast this morning forme and DD was toasted HM fruit loaf, can't see DH or Twins wanting breakfast (on account of being asleep....) Bacon buttys forl unch and I've cubed up some of yesterdays beef and put itin the slow cooker with celery, leeks, onions, carrots, sliced left over cocktail sausages and layered sliced potatoes over the top and covered it all in the left over gravy made with the beef juices and topped up with bisto best. I've kept some of the beef back incase DH just wants some sliced with chips and gravy....he's a bit of a vegetable-dodger.
I have some MSing jobs today - i'm not sure whether the supermarkets are open normal or sunday hours today - anyone any idea?
Need to go and get my self organised, Have a good day!

Hi everyone,
I'm still re-arranging my kitchen cupboards, it's taking forever. I think its because I'm trying to think of the most efficient places to put things, When it was installed I put most things where I wanted but there were a few cupboards which I've now realised weren't great and there are the inevitable couple which became a bit of a dumping ground for stuff I was unsure of.
We went for a gentle walki in the sun after DH had mowed the lawn for the first time and now my feet really hurt. It's so frustrating,
Have a good day everyone, I can hear stirring upstair so I shall go now.0 -
