Morning all,
Dry here at the moment but the sky is very dark, so think more rain is on the way.
I have a load in the wm, which may have to go on the airer, got lots done yesterday, hung coat hooks etc, got the boot and shoe cupboard sorted out, hung the broom and mop hanging thingy, put another coat on dd's ceiling.
We also nipped out to a local boot sale where OH picked up a camera for £35 which he thinks he can get £250 for, several have sold on Ebay for this :T
Might do a fry up for tea, I need to get some beans, but can nip up the locasl shop for those, dd has a friend coming for a sleepover tonight, and she is not keen on veggies.
Butterfly brain, thanks for asking hun, I am not sure what is wrong with my dads hand, Mum thinks it might be gout, but it looks like a infection / bite to me.
Haribo, nice to see you posting, I thought the easter bunny always left the reciept behind in case the children did not like the eggs
Ok better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning All!
Had a lovely day yesterday. Went to my cousins' house for lunch. Roast prok with all the trimmings. DD ate a huge bowl of trifle, amazed there was any left for the rest of us!:rotfl:
Sunny here in Hastings. Going to try and bag up some of the stuff in the garden that we cut down last week.
Trying to get my freezer down, I want a half and half now. Don't need a huge fridge and freezer as there is only the two of us at weekends, and me and the cat during the week:rotfl:
Snoozer- When I re-did my kitchen it took me a few months to find the right cupboards for everything. You need to use things, then you'll fine the right ones!
Have a great day all!
I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0 -
I't a cold wet and miserable start here today. OH has just "popped in" to work (read gone for hours, we are as bad as each other lol!) to feed his cells. I'm off work this week, so I autoclaved all mine before I left
I finished my quarterly report yesterday, which I will have to drop in on account of it being too large to e-mail.
Moilere - that sounds like an epic job, but it will look wonderful when it's done
Haribo - But the Easter bunny has to get the eggs from somewhere :rotfl:
NPM - when I was a kid, my mum used to "desqueak" all noisy toys quite quickly because the sounds drove her to distraction. Apparently if you use the gas cooker to heat a knitting needle, that will see to most squeakers pretty efficently :rotfl:
Bitsy - oww!Glad your gran has seen the doctor
House hunting is depressing me. A 1-bed apartment the size of a shoebox in the city centre round here will set you back about £230 K - as most properties here are buy-to-let as the rental market is so strong. There are a few further away from the city centre, but the city is really quite small so not a great deal of choice. I'm not particularly fussy, there are two areas I don't want to live in round here and we would like a garden. We won't be in a position to move for a few months yet, but it is a very scary. We spent last night looking at mortgage calculators - the amusing thing for us is that we both went to strong jobs straight after living on a college studentship so neither of us really know how to spend money
I spoke to my mum last night - my little sister apparently had to write a statement for the police about what she'd been through at the hands of my estranged BiL. I was worried she wouldn't be open, but apparently she has told them everything and the police were very pleased with both the eloquence and content of her statement. I am so proud of her.
Dinner tonight will be chicken as they were cheap in waitrose - I have enough meat to last for quite a while after being lucky with reductions at the meat counter on Saturday (7 pork sausages, two cumberland whorls and six lamb sausages for 97 p) and a lot of bread for slightly better than free - as when things are reduced the offers still kick in (four loaves reduced to 19 p - minus £1.22 multibuy discount - So free bread and about 40p of the rest of the shopping.). I must start being more careful again with the groceries, as I have been quite slack recently - this week I am at home though, so I will have time to cook/think/sort the cupboards and get back into the swing of things.
My hands are very sore - I have finished my lace pattern over the middle and top tiers and am about a 1/4 of the way across the top of the 12 inch cake. They are quite high sided though, so I still have a fair area to go. I'm not sure I will be able to finish it today though as my right hand is visably swollen and I can feel the pull right the way up to my elbow. I am using a 00 nozzle, so it is taking a while. The other tiers look good though - it's quite intricate but looks much better than my dodgy flat icing
Right - must go and finish the washing up. have a god day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Good morning people!
the WM is on, Mum is coming over soon so I am looking foward to some mother and daughter time.
THe house is a bit of a tip but i am starting flylady this week so looking forward to getting on top of things. It's lovely to have a day off after working the weekend!
sistercas - I misread SIL for STI!!!!!! I had to double take!
Bitsy - hope fingers feel better soon, I got burnt by an oven tray on my second day of work in this job - OUCH!!!!
Other OS stuff, still brainstorming for my make-up artist business. Have my housewarming party on Friday so really should start to think about food. Do you think a few nuts and crisps and cakes would be enough, we really can't afford much.
Also I wanted advice on which other MSE challenges to take up? I am doing the £2 sealed tin and have started flylady this week, what else shall i take up?
Love to All x x x x xHmmm will add up debt and stick on on later!0 -
Morning all
Chilly & damp here today, so no washing on the line. We've been to the garden centre to get new liners for the hanging baskets, 4 are now planted up & hanging along the wall.
Hubby & I are having 'words' I put some stuff on Freegle yesterday afternoon, got loads of interest, chose the person who lived nearest to me, but not had any more contact, how long do I leave it? It's 4 bags of kids toys & I can't move in the kitchen, they are in the way & hubby is also fed up with falling over them.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all,its quite bright here in north Kent and hopefully it will stay that way.Not much to do today will be pottering around trying to sort out some paperwork.Tomorrow I am off to the science museum in London with my DD and the four boys ,her eldest DD has to make some time up at her placement, but as she is 17 and not terribly interested in museums she''s not too bothered i think her boyfriend is taking her out afterwards for something to eat so she is sorted. The boys are quite excited at the thought of going though so I hope the weather is nice and not too rainy. Then on Thursday and Friday this week I have my friend coming down from Dartford to give me a hand sorting out all my records as I am hoping to find a new home for them I have far too many collected over the past 40 odd years and its time they went to give me some more room My pal June is excellent at de-cluttering and her husband is away down in the dessert working for a couple of days so we can really get stuck in with clearing my spare room as that's the next room we are going to renovate.
Moiliere I can remember what my brothers place in Villefagnan was like back in 1997 when he was virtually rebuilding it.Dust was everywhere He bought it for very little cash as it was falling down,(it hadn't been lived in since 1948) but had four walls that were nearly two foot thick, but no roof and the floor was almost completely gone. But he rebuilt it and its now a lovely three bedroomed house which he lives in with his partner Sandra.I spoke to him yesterday when he phoned, and he said that it was the longest winter they had ever had and he had been and bought a new 'stair' of wood for the log burner in the sitting room.Normally by this time he's out cutting grass and getting peoples holiday homes ready for when they come over.he is retired but does a bit of part-time work here and there in the summer taking care of holiday places for folk in England. He has lived permanantly in France since 2003 and loves it and says he would never come back to England to live. he can turn his hand to most things mechanical or building so he's never short of work. He says its the best thing he ever did moving to France and keeps trying to encourage me to go as well but I couldn't leave my grandchildren and two daughters.Davids children are scttered all over the world so apart from me he has no one in the U.K .
He lived in a tiny caravan on site until he had made the roof watertight.Good luck with your building its well worth it in the end I thiink.Well time I was toddling ,hope everyone has a good Bank Holiday.I'm off for some coffee as its about that time
Cheers chums

UOLYPOOL WELCOME
This thread is FAB - I used to be a regular but then disappeared for about a year
I've been reading it again for a week or so and motivation and inspiration levels are soaring again :T:cool:
CELYN90 So glad your sister has had the strength to do the right thing - I kinda know how hard it is from personal experience. She's very lucky to have a supportive family around her. Also - just out of curiosity ... which city are the 1 beds going for such ridiculous amounts?
Well - I've been lucky enough to have a very chilled out few days. On friday I sorted out half of my bedroom ... believe me this was a HUGE achievement because it was in a terrible stateI'm going to try to keep up with the flylady thread and will do the other half on the appropriate day. On Sat DD's and I went swimming and had great fun and then got treated to a luxurious meal at a very nice pub. Yesterday I went to the Easter service which was sooooo good and then had a lovely walk with the dogs in the sunshine before going to a friends for a scrummy roast dinner
I road my bike so I could have a couple of glasses of wine and am feeling it this morning!! (the bike riding not the wine ).
This morning I've had a lie in until gone 10 a.m. :j:j I don't think I've slept for that long since before children :rotfl: My puppy had me up at a 4 am because he needed the toilet but then went back to sleep and didn't wake again until 10.15
OS wise, I've put a wash on, tidied kitchen and given it a S&S, given DD's bedrooms a quick once over and also have renewed car insurance which expired yesterday ... saved approx £200 on the renewal quote :money: Just going to get dressed ... still in my pj's at nearly 1pm :rotfl:... and then taking dogs for a lovely long walk (think rains about to start tho) before going to pick up DD's.
Hope everyone has a fab chilled out bank holiday Monday xJUST DO IT ONE BRICK AT A TIMEPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTSWeekly Budget: groceries£50/petrol£50/Unnecesary£15DEBT PAID = 58% (£4,212/£8216):T0
