Didn't want to read and run. Hugs to you Dustykitten and your DS. What a day for you. x

Hugs to you too Natty68. I had a lumpectomy many years ago which, thankfully, turned out to be benign, but I know the feeling x

Sorry, polkadot, I meant to add earlier that I was thinking about your family too. I hope you get hold of them soon x

Sandy is in my thoughts too x

:(

Sorry not read the thread yet. Just got back from the hospital. DS3 fell this morning and has broken his arm (just above the elbow) really badly. He has had a two and a half hour op to wire it back together and now been transferred to stay the night at another hospital (ours doesn't have overnight paeds).

He has been such a star through such pain. DH is staying the night with him and I'll go back over early in the morning.

Hugs to all who need them x

Ouch, ouch, ouch! I can really sympathise and know pretty much exactly what he is going through - it's made me go a bit wibbly just thinking about it.

He is in the best place and, hopefully, the surgeons will have been as good as mine were.

My thoughts and prayers are with him and I'm sending sleep well vibes and a large amount of virtual painkillers xx

Miss A - glad you had a good day but shouldn't you be in bed by now ;) :rotfl:Have a safe journey home x

• Evening, all.

Took DD2 clothes shopping as she has done the obligatory leap from age 10 to age 11 in clothes, something she does without fail 2 months before her birthday every year. (Never known such an 'average' child - everyone at school is much taller and 3 times the width)

Decided that, as so much in the way of clothes has to go - almost everything - I CBA to argue, she could pick whatever she wanted, so she got;

A week's underwear
A week's socks
2 pairs leggings
1 pair jeans
5 tops
1 set of PJs
1 hat (are they called Trilbys nowdays?)

Quite pleased with her selection, so I let her get away with 1 pair cheap as heck black patent pumps (I know they'll self destruct in 22 minutes, but it's the only way she will learn) and some green converse style.

So, once we were finally home, she empties out her drawers - on the floor - cleans them and carefully organises the new gear, leaving space for September's new uniform (which is in the region of £250, apparently :eek )

I busied myself just pottering round rather than following the list.

She has told her mates that she has 'been sorting out mii daeth trap room 2day 4 mii new clothes' (don't you love the textspeak nonsense?)

So her room is now The DAETH [sic] TRAP :D

Dusty What a lovely idea. I hadn’t actually thought of Christening. DH is very “otherwise” regarding the church. He is a believer in God but is of the opinion that the church taints His will for our lives-which is why we got married at the registrars. And my brother sadly turned his back on God decades ago because of our childhood. We want him and his wife to be Godparents but DH has suggested when we ask about it that we use the term “responsible adults”. Its a tricky one, but we’ve always been good at compromise so maybe it is time to start thinking about it. Whats your favourite song? Mine are heartsongs and Applejack. I cant stand Jolene or I will always love you.

You could just have a naming ceremony type party. I like 9 'til' 5 and the one about mumma making a coat - too tired to remember it's name. I can't stand Jolene but don't like applejack either

As it's the bank holiday, I thought I'd post a link to the Breakthrough Generations Study which I'm taking part in. It's a 40-year breast cancer research project, which is studying women of all ages, and particularly looking for participants who are related.

I signed up a few years ago two. It really is good if more than one family member can join. You don't have to do the bloods but if you can it is great for future developments.

Soappie - how are you today. The bird looks fab. My family history software is loaded and I'm raring to go again

Vanilla - hope you get some sleep hugs

Natty - hugs sweetie, you've done the right thing; you've been checking and now your are acting, good luck and hope you get the nice GP

Sandy - I am so sorry you are in so much pain and am sending vibes your way to diminish it

Diva - good luck with the op, I'll be thinking of you in the morning

Mudders - did you hubby return from the dump or has he turned into Stig?

Just going to text hubbie and make a cuppa

sorry to see that soappie is still not well - I WILL DO THE STARS TOMORROW since toots3 is still on holiday!

who ever is in touch with Sandy please give her our love (AnW's Mum and me) and hope the chemo is doing its work - I know its horrible but bear in mind that the doctors would not put you through chemo and its side effects if they did not think it was worth doing - keep your chin up - you are in our thoughts and prayers (((hugs)))

tootsxx

ETA I will read and catch up on the thread tomorrow - hugs to everyone in the meantime xx
