Just started this thread last night and have basically stayed in one position neglecting most things just to get through the thread as I couldn't stop reading.
What a journey, and credit to all contributors as you don't realise how much wisdom all of you have put down.
Many hugs to Ms Firewalker for a turbulent year and an emotional passing at the darkest point of the year.
I shall (at some point) wander to the Matrix thread which looks intriguing, and hello to all, I shall contribute from time to time :)

Blessings and Happy New Year folks

Hi Nym, and welcome - we are all pleased to have you here and contributing. Noone is wise on their own.

Tonight I will be brief because we are going to the cinema - we'll see Burlesque (I already saw Tron with little Boy and honestly don't bother; if you have to go because of little people go prepared).

Couple of things, really. First, unlikely as it is we have ended December £14.74 in the black. It is true that in December couple of honoraria (none really large) hit the aqccount but the expenditure included not only Christmas and all shopping but also going to Sofia and taking £300 with me. I feel really proud because this end of month result is a testimony to our changed ways. It is also very pleasing that over the whole year we have not only managed to live within what we bring in every month guarantees (well as certain as anything could be) but are £654 in the black (well this is gone towards the bathrooms and stuff but...). Altogether very pleased.

Secondly a call to all Matrix members - there are two new ideas, posted today for discussion under the Baby steps... syb-board. I am sure Mr F will be very interested in what you all have to say and one of these also requires the active cooperation of Matrix members.

Off to enjoy Cher now - I want to grow old like her (without the plastic surgery though; or at least some of it).

I can't believe this! Up at an un-Godly hour again - 6.30! For Godness sake it is the last day of the holidays, there was absolutely no call for this to happen. On the positive, I have already progressed the wriitng of a proposal for growing a business for a friend - all good fun, But will need a nap during the day and my eyes hurt from lack of rest.

I have to tame this one.

Maybe this was The Universe's way of getting you ready for an early rise tomorrow .

Enjoy your nap later - they are much under-rated in my opinion!
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Hi Firewalker, for some reason I have seen you posting on other diaries lots but I never read yours.

I am so glad I have (well, read the first couple and last couple of pages!). I will subscribe and make some time to read the whole lot some time this week as there are lots of parallels (although I don't have children)

It sounds like 2010 has been a toughie but a goodie too.

I wish you a very happy new year filled with wonderful things :)

Have had this uncomfortable feeling most of the day; you know, the feeling that you just had this absolutely great, profound idea and that it fleetingly went out as fast as it got into your head. I actually remember thinking to myself ‘this is a rather important AHA I am having’ and it is all gone. I am getting tired – hope I’ll remember one day.

Apart from that, today I decided that it is time to stop worrying about work but actually do some. I finished the ideas for a friend’s business and e-mailed the document. Not work, work; more like one of the conundrums I so much enjoy figuring out. I wonder what will happen if I apply the same sense of fun, excitement and flair to our own business and financial affairs. I suppose if there is someone to help with implementation we might end up seriously rich. But of course this is not possible; looking into one’s own affairs is always much harder and more restrictive because we cannot see our lives as fascinating stories. We are too involved, things become too big and important, and we become too fearful.

Here the snow is finally gone although the temperatures are falling again. For shame, the snow fell before we managed to clean the leaves for second time (we have few trees and bushes). Today we did it; and it was not pretty, and it was not pleasant but at the end strangely satisfying.

I am not going to worry about work; I am not going to worry about how much I have to do. Tomorrow first thing I’ll plan everything so that I work highly efficiently and manage to move forward different projects that are getting behind. But to keep them on time I would have had to work over Christmas and I really needed a break.

Keep well, everyone and have a very, very productive and successful day tomorrow. I will try not to wake up at silly o’clock again o if I do I’ll make good use of the time.

  • Good morning Firewalker - I hope you slept a little better last night.

I too have just started reading your diary, so have read the first two pages and the last page. I am looking forward to catching up on your story but for today, be gentle with yourself going back to work - one step-at-a-time, it is amazing how quickly all those steps add up, Thriftyxxx

Thanks guys. I am pleased to say that I did sleep - not long but deep. Even better, I have been working since 7.10 a.m. and am feeling really invigorated.

Ummm...it is likely that the Universe was saying 'get on with it, great things await you'. Now getting on.

    And welcome Thrifty...
