It is OK DT, I have been thinking about these ones for two days now. And am getting ready for the big day tomorrow - we will have to get up quite early to be in Leeds for 9.00 - 9.15.

Somehow (the ways of the universe are mysterious) I am friends on FB with Paolo Coelho. And tonight this is what he put on his blog - I thought everyone here will appreciate it. Enjoy (I hope that I am not breaking any copy right rules).

    "
A boy was watching his grandmother write a letter. At one point he asked:
‘Are you writing a story about what we’ve done? Is it a story about me?’
His grandmother stopped writing her letter and said to her grandson:
I am writing about you, actually, but more important than the words is the pencil I’m using. I hope you will be like this pencil when you grow up.’
Intrigued, the boy looked at the pencil. It didn’t seem very special.
‘But it’s just like any other pencil I’ve ever seen!’
‘That depends on how you look at things. It has five qualities which, if you manage to hang on them, will make you a person who is always at peace with the world.’
‘First quality: you are capable of great things, but you must never forget that there is a hand guiding your steps. We call that hand God, and He always guides us according to His will.’
‘Second quality: now and then, I have to stop writing and use a sharpner. That makes the pencil suffer a little, but afterwards, he’s much sharper. So you, too, must learn to bear certain pains and sorrows, because they will make you a better person.
‘Third quality: the pencil always allows us to use an eraser to rub out any mistakes. This means that correcting something we did is not necessarily a bad thing; it helps to keep us on the road to justice.’
‘Fourth quality: what really matters in a pencil is not its wooden exterior, but the graphite inside. So always pay attention to what is happening inside you.’
‘Finally, the pencil’s fifth quality: it always leaves a mark. in just the same way, you should know that everything you do in life will leave a mark, so try to be conscious of that in your every action’"

Knitwit, the things that come most clearly from your answers are reading and hypnotherapy. There are two occupations here and one is to develop your clinic and the other one is to try and write book reviews in a more systematic manner.

You mention that you think that the hypnotherapy can be very limiting in that it is about being stuck in an office all day. But, how about your dream - having a place somewhere as a retreat. This would be very nice - and probably it is not that hard to achieve. But the dream would have to become a plan and then a strategy. Are you a member of the Matrix? Why don't you put it for brain storming there?

    Good evening Maru,

I was looking again at your answers to the questions. The common elements are animals, research and computers. Can you think of an idea that brings all these together?

Last week was a rather expensive one – we have spent £168 of which £40.85 is on food. It was expensive but predictably so and therefore budgeted. The bulk of the expenditure is on my orthodontics (these are the things one puts in her shoes) and on OH’s haircut. And, yes I do realise that one choice is to have really cheap haircuts and pay the negative wealth faster but a haircut is about how one feels. And we feel that haircuts are like coffee and wine – compromise is not possible.

Have you noticed how the objects of our conversations change with time? I have the feeling that I already mentioned this somewhere. I have noticed that in our 20s we discuss the other sex, potential partners, actual partners, desired partners, love and relationships. In our 30s we discuss mortgages, children, and nurseries. In our forties we start discussing health insurance, investments and pensions. In our 50s we start discussing varicose veins, hemorrhoids and downsizing. In our 60s – I have not got that far yet. But today I moved into the 50s before time.

Woke up and my leg was hurting. Although I have had a varicose vein ever since I had Little Boy it has never been anything to get excited about. But today it is swollen, hurts like hell and is red. The internet says the following: you are likely to have phlebitis and you should consult your doctor immediately. I did send my doctor an e-mail – which is the way we have been communicating for the last couple of years. Let see what happens next.

Very inconvenient though – I suspect I might end up having to have this vein done. But this whole thing is slowing my running down even further and I am getting really cross. Or am I having withdrawal symptoms?

And the thought for today is:

“A doctor tells me: we are born with the fear of falling & the fear of loud
noises. All other fears are acquired.” – Paolo Coelho

I think you might mean orthotics - orthodontics is up at the mouth, at the other end of the body. ;) :rotfl:

Liked your theory about what we discuss when we get older: I turned 30 today, so will let you know if it's the same for me in a few months! ;)
