Me :j I then read The Art of Happiness Robin Sharma and Dalia Llama (I think Robin Sharm - may be wrong) and I would say that the Monk book is a very simplified version of that. It is a good book, I gave it to my friend who was facing repossession of house/loss of job/sickness and all kinds of other things. What can I say though, there is no amount of nudging that can help some people. No lightbulb moments there yet.
Tomorrow I am off to the hospital and surely hope that all is well and that I'll be allowed a shower. Can't wait!
Good night.

I think that I asked that at the time too. Love reading and watching him. Very inspiring.tellmeitsfriday wrote: »Can you wrap your leg in a plastic bag? I used to do that when I had my leg in plaster from broken ankle....
Did the same when I had my leg in plaster. Used to lie in the bath with the leg propped on the edge so it didnt fully immerse in the water. I have been keeping away to curb the addiction a bit and to break the cycle of complaining about my discomfort. Today is a different ball game altogether, though; today is the day I took a shower after 15 days of using sponges and the sink, after rapping my leg on cling film (failure in terms of washing but did look rather kinky) and dreaming of it.
I was standing under the running water and the feeling was unbelievable. Then I realised that I don't usually even notice my morning shower - for decades now it has been seen as a necessary part of my daily routine. But the simple and powerful sensual pleasure that taking a shower really is, gets lost in the hurried life that I lead. I am sure this is true about other simple acts in life - we fully appreciated them only when we have been deprived for some time.

Words for us all to remember - it's what I understand 'living mindfully' to mean. Glad you are nice and clean. :cool:But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
I don't think "things are 'not as they used to be' and that most acts of kindness are in the past."
There is a concept I have come across several times recently which I like. Someone does some kindness and you thank them and they say "Just pay it forward to someone else."
I know a lot of people that do this. It makes our wonderful world an even better place. Yay.
Just back from my hols. Hope your leg and the shower situation is better. I am supposed to be unpacking but keep getting distracted.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
Last night we had 'the leg and cleanliness' celebration in a local restaurant called Dobro (this translates as 'good'). Have to say that the place always lives up to it's name - the food is fresh, well prepared and just enough. The salads are divine - last night OH and I had roast red peppers salad and a local salad the name of which I cannot write because of the automatic correcting thing (it is tomatoes, cucumber, roast peppers, a bit of onion and the whole thing covered under a layer of very nice, grated fetta cheese).
The four of us (OH, DS3, my sister and I) had a lovely meal; and rather MSE because all the food consumed (mainly by growing up DS) was £25.
Sofia is a strange place - food is generally not cheap (not relatively speaking anyway); electronics is more expensive than in the UK, transport again not cheap, petrol costs almost the same etc. What is cheaper is labour. I was looking at the World Bank classification of countries and Bulgaria counts as a upper middle income economy. Which explains why labour is cheaper than in the UK.
Anyway, I am rambling it seems. Probably time to go to bed. Good night my friends and speak soon.

It is another bright and sunny day here - but the temperature is down by about 4C which is very good; in fact it feels nice and cool. It is almost lunch-time and I am still in my PJs. DS3 is gone with his auntie fishing - just had a phone call to tell me that they are fine and are catching their food. What is it about catching our own food (or raising it for that matter)?
Today is our last day in Sofia - tomorrow we are going back home. I am already a bit apprehensive of the journey and how is my leg going to cope with it all. This is tomorrow (and I am taking deffinite steps towards dealing with the worry habit). Today will be day full of banks, blog posts, MUSE plans and coffee bars (I still have not had the energy to get to my favourite coffee bar in Sofia which is in a garden in front of the National theater - splending building).
Tag clouds! Pah!
