please could I have advice about my son who is 25. He has a loan of £3.500 an overdraft of £1600. He is on DLA and incapacity benefits but has just found out that the Dla has been drastically reduced. He cannot repay his debts. My husband and I want to help as he is paying high interest charges on his overdraft. He is with Nat West Bank. We are thinking of taking out a loan and paying off his debts. Can he he open up another account with another bank with this crdit record ? Do you believe what we are doing is correct? In need of good advice please?

It could be worth posting on the benefits board on mse about the reduction in DLA - I think there are appeals procedures, but the experts are in that section.0 -
I like his filing system. You just need to adapt it to your needs. Especially I like having my reference material in a-z folder. I haven't quite managed to get my ripple file to work, perhaps I will adopt some kind of electronic version linked to leverarch file. But the best thing I did after reading his book was to have a wallet for all the important papers. Now I know where my cheque books, DD's birth certificate, MOT certificate etc are."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

OK, quite clearly it needs a second look than. But could someone summarise the system for the less patient among us? A bit of simplification maybe? It can be posted on the other side as one way to go.
BTW, the two books are in fact cmplementary so...

I'll see what I can do. However I have very old and very big and very ugly frog that keeps growing and now it has married another frog and the whole thing it is making me very upset and ill. BF won't be here until Fri or Sat to take DD off my hands so that I can sit in the quiet and start nibbling away, bleaurgh. Perhaps I should go back to Mr T and get her one of the DVD's I refused to buy her yesterday to get couple of hours working time."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

I spend the afternoon on a train, reading the Eat That Frog book. But before I enjoyed it I read another book called Getting Things Done by David Allen – and was not very impressed. He obviously knows what he is talking about but as a reader I was left a tad confused and wondering whether I am prepared to spend considerable proportion of my productive time getting to grips with the relatively complex system that he has developed. Also the detailed description of filing systems left me gasping for breath – I just can’t do this one.

I am also reading the Frog book, I like Brian Tracy he is far simpler and direct. I have also read his Goals book which I found really motivating.

That's what i like about this thread. You all seem to react and modify your behaviour after reading the books. I am just dipping my toes into the water but have a loong way to go.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

Crafty, if there isn't one we will need to invent it; and win it. With a small modification - lately I have become a firm believer in taking action. In fact this seems to be one of my ugliest frogs ever:rotfl:. Knowing is good, but knowing and acting accounting for this knowledge - unbeatable.
SW, dipping toes is good. For me - I am experimenting and following the parts that make sense and fit me. And as you know - lots of this is modified, there are things that I am inventing for myself etc. All good fun.

Lots and lots going on here. My head is dizzy. I haven't read the David Allen book you are talking about so have no idea what his system is but it sounds very similar to the system that I have been working on both in work and personally for many years. I find it simple but then I never saw it written down and just worked out a way that works for me and my friends do call me Monica remember. I am the one that puts food away in my cupboards on a stock rotation system so I see my filing as very similar. I will have to have a read of his book or scan read it. Mind you I might be confused then and ruin my own system :rotfl::rotfl:

Hey Cheri. Anytime you would like to move in with us you are very welcome. My filing system cosists of piles that keep spilling out of shelves and taking part of the floor. I trew away the receipt for my brand new car several years back and poor OH retreived it from the willy bin. Oh is no better, mind. So we need a system - but it has to be a level that bridges my world and the world of a filing maverick.
Any competition about most read self help books I am likely to lose - I started late.
Now off for my daily walk. We made good progress on the book here but I want more...
