Thank you for helping me Marru and Aesop. No matter how stressed you guys are you always help. MSE has so many kind people. Thank you.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

Marru - have you got blackout curtains/blinds. They were a lifesaver when our boys were young as they'd want to wake when the sun came up and sleep when it had set, OK in winter, but useless for us and them to survive the rest of the year.0

I think your blog posts are like a summary of what has been pondered here. So the digestion happens here and the final product gets presented in the blog.
I dont' know if that makes sense. DD is being terribly noisy and I am starting to get to the point that I can't handle any more noise for today and am going to explode. Getting her to bed in 15 minutes. Sigh...
Look after self and don't let the little person get to you. Rest, listen to music, keep physically active.
The rest makes sense - the blog is to crystalise some ideas about the whole thing but I still do not have my 'blog voice' I am afraid. The last thing I wish to do is to patronise people - these are things I am experimenting with and thinking about (with loads of help from friends who probably should take part there as well). Thinking cap on and this should be seen as a frog it seems.

I don’t know me trains and absent mindedness! Today after checking several times that the train is leaving from the station where I was going I got to the station. Got my tickets from the machine and looked at the time – it said 13.04. Looked at the board and could not see my train. Panic...my mouth dried up, my heart was racing and I was certain that I have gaffed again and the train is speeding away without me on it.
My panic was in vain – 13.04 was the time when my ticket was printed by the machine and my train was when it was supposed to be, where it was supposed to be. At the end I was late but this was not my fault. Now here, writing away.
Today was a good day altogether. After ‘eating two ugly frogs’ this morning I spend the afternoon on a train, reading the Eat That Frog book. But before I enjoyed it I read another book called Getting Things Done by David Allen – and was not very impressed. He obviously knows what he is talking about but as a reader I was left a tad confused and wondering whether I am prepared to spend considerable proportion of my productive time getting to grips with the relatively complex system that he has developed. Also the detailed description of filing systems left me gasping for breath – I just can’t do this one.
And the main news is that I did post on my blog – I am determined not to let it win. It is not going to stay this big, responsible thing that I am scared to approach. And I will eat that frog – several times over and until it has become a tadpole.
Now it is time for bed. Sleep well and speak tomorrow.

I read Getting Things Done and although I liked it it was hard work. I use his A -Z filing system but for months had an in tray that terrified me!
I am also reading the Frog book, I like Brian Tracy he is far simpler and direct. I have also read his Goals book which I found really motivating.

I agree that David Allen's system looks far too complicated to implement.
I do like his ideas on collecting all in-try items together, clearing your inbox (not quite managed yet) and next actions.
My to do lists have become much better now I think about what it is i actually have to do before I write it down. I guess I would like to experiment with having a 31 day folder for the month so that I could look in each day and see what was required ... I also know my memory is hazy on what the system actually is, so I am unlikely to have this in the near future!!!
I am creeping up on frogs and heartened by the fact that there are lots of the blighters about
Happy writing!

I think may use a variation of his system - is that the one that has 31 daily folders and 12 monthly folders? A ripple File?
If it is- then I have reduced three filing cabinets down in to one box that holds the 43 folders.
I knew the MOT and Tax were due this month because when I got the folder out for "April " this month all the relevant documents were inside - I have even been known to throw books I need to MindMap in the relevant suspension file.
Works for me because on the first of every month I decide when each piece of work is going to be done and put it in the correct "daily folder" - then each day I pull out one file and get to it.
Did take a leap of faith and a roll of binbags to implement though - lots of clutter went.
In fact - I think I am gong to make one up for DS1 and his homeschool work.

please could I have advice about my son who is 25. He has a loan of £3.500 an overdraft of £1600. He is on DLA and incapacity benefits but has just found out that the Dla has been drastically reduced. He cannot repay his debts. My husband and I want to help as he is paying high interest charges on his overdraft. He is with Nat West Bank. We are thinking of taking out a loan and paying off his debts. Can he he open up another account with another bank with this crdit record ? Do you believe what we are doing is correct? In need of good advice please?

Lanka, this post probably will have to go on the DFW Forum as well (if you have not already put it there please do). There are people there who know a lot about this. From what I have seen (but I am an amateur, you realise):
1) yes your son can open a basic account with another bank;
2) you can probably cover his debt;
3) however, you will have to get a bit more into why and how he built it and ensure it does not happen again.
In my opinion the last one is the hardest part of the operatrion because not building debt requires change of thinking and acting that comes only after a crisis - if you jump in quickly and sort out things for your son he would have not had the chance to have his crisis.

Well done all last night's posters. Am eating 4 frogs today. Will be shouting rebbit myself very soon! Sun is just coming out. I want this to be a good day. Happy travelling Firewalker and everyone else, happy filing and achieving your goals too.
I haven't seen last night's blog Firewalker. For me i read your posts as you are positive, you write beautifully, everyone that posts on here adds to this, i love hearing about your LB, i like your enthusiasm and motivational approach to trying new things. The LB aspect is missing from the blog but I dont know if you want strangers reading that. I know i am a stranger but i dont feel like that. It feels like we know you and I trust you completely. Anyway, i dont care I love what you write and will continue to read the blog as it develops.
Even i am doing the frog thing. I am wearing green today... Wonder what that means...? rebbit.:rotfl::rotfl:Aiming for a minimal spend 20220
