Not sure what the pea shoots from the dried peas would taste like. As far as I know the pea shoots that are sold in supermarkets/chinese restaurants are snow pea shoots (mangetout) - they're a lot sweeter and looks a whole lot more delicate than the ones that she grew.
The only reason I know this is because my mum used to plant them to have on hand for stir fries if we ran out of food before grocery day Saturday. :P
Hmmm well they cost less than a pound for a huge bag of them so if this first lot don't taste the best then we will be having a lot of soup to use them up!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

true true... they're selling for 37p at my local shop compared to the £1.99 for 50g that T&M charges for them - will plant them for soup, thanks!
Never had pea soup before... looked it up and some people have it cold? will be trying a few recipes and decide which one tastes best.0 -
I actually enjoyed it more this week, but agree about the tom in the GH. I also though she hadn't done much thinning out of the branches and leaves, which I have found works well to increase air circulation to help ward off diseases.
I remember seeing on here a tip about thinning out the leaves and sideshoots as they had seen comercial growers almost strip their toms to nothing once the fruits were set.

i really liked today's episode, though i agree with the opinion that she's trying to be very Nigella-like, with the pouting and lying in the ground and licking her fingers... i like her more childlike eccentricities and the dancing onion man was a legend! can't wait for next week's episode!0

My gf may have love rival. She does do a bit too much pouting but I like her hippy ways.0

She gets alot from her garden size, she does well. Knows less than nothing about chickens though.
Nice to see someone at last telling the truth about container growing potatoes. It's not worth it.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
