I agree, jellybaby, the enhanced CRB (it's called Disclosure Scotland up here) is something I always check if arranging stuff for the kids, it would put you nearer the top of my list if I needed that sort of thing (don't think the boys would be amused though!)
JackieO just because you weren't born here doesn't mean you're not Scottish! Look at all those crazy Americans who cling to any tenious historical link to their ancestry, and here you are first generation Scot and playing it down! Actually, I know the area you mother is from very well, being a so'sider myself. I had a flatshare in Queen's Drive when I was younger, which is parallel to Albert Avenue. Gorgeous architecture round there, very beautiful traditional tenements. I would love to research my family tree, but could only do my mother's and I already know back to my great great grandparents from my grandmother. OH's family have researched their tree quite far back, and being generations of proud Roman Catholics were mortified to find they came from an unmarried grandmother a couple or four generations back!! Knowing my luck they'd all be thieves and murderers!
Candygirl, Boo is a darling, and how cute is that cake!
Off to catch the end of the gardening!
Nightall.

Candygirl, Boo looks utterly adorable! I hope she enjoyed her birthday and Peppa cake

Hi all
*sneaks in quietly at the back again
Happy birthday butterfly brain
Candygirl - awwh, what a cute picture!
I've been buried under cake and quarterly reports for the past week or so so haven't been around much. I cracked and have taken a week off work to finish this cake, the first holiday in a very very long time! One of my collegues had the audacity to go up to the department PA and ask her if I "had to have this particular week off" !? Cheeky so and so. She told him where to go though - which was lovely of herMy industry partners are descending again this week - again at short notice, but my leave was already booked and I will be helping with the wedding prep so I can't forgo my holiday this time.
OS wise, I haven't been up to much - my house is dominated by cakes - which are all sitting on a plastic sheet in the centre of the lounge. The bride wants to come and help at some point, but given that I use plasterers tools for royal icing (albeit new, clean, sterilised ones that don;t get used for anything else) I might have to tidy up a bit first. I've already been asked to do another one in september *sigh*. I have been baking lemon cakes too to try and get the sponge receipe sorted - I have been taking excess experimental cake to work quite a lot recently! I have a nice one now which goes some way towards using the extra egg yolks I've generated from the royal icing.
I have to go and put the faces on the hot cross bunnies in a bit (a running joke - we had hot cross hedgehogs last year)Not that I want to see any more sugar! Not sure I'll make a simnel cake this year, it would be death by fruit cake
hope you all had a good day, cel x
