Good morning
We're also having a nice slow start to the day today. There's onlt myself, DH & DS3 up so it's lovely & quiet. WM done 2 loads already another one to go then it's done for the day. I might peg some out as it's sunny out for now at least :T
Not many plans today apart from relaxing with a book although I have to do the ironing as I've ran out of clothes to wear :o That'll keep me busy for a while at least.
Lunch is sausage sandwiches for the kids & quiche & coleslaw for DH & I. Tea is fish steaks, mash & beans
Have a good, Good Friday everyone xxx0 -
Morning all............((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) if you need one.
Holidays are much the same as ordinary days now we have retired, sometimes I have difficulty remembering what day of the week it is!!!
When we were working in the civil service we often worked holidays and then added up it gave us another few days to add to our annual leave....the only time our office closed was Dec 25th & 26th and Jan 1st & 2nd.
It is a bright morning but we have had a frost, so a bit chilly, the logs on top of the old woodstore have rime on them. The forecast is for showers later. Some parts of Scotland are still without power. So many areas have no gas, once the electric goes they are stuffed unless they have a wood burner or an open fire for heat. I am going to look out for one of those portable gas fires, you used to be able to get them from B & Q. Once we loose the wood burner we too will have no other form of heating. The central heating pump does not work without power.
Friday clean, then more time in the garden, we have got 3/4 of the way round in the back, lots of open space, the dreaded vinca is slowly disappearing. I need to get in under the rose bush which is now a tree and try and get as much out as I can. I have some stuff you paint on the leaves and it takes it down to the root. I used it on the front and it has worked to a degree, I am going to do it again, eventually I should be able to pull it out the roots.
Nothing special planned for the holiday, more gardening I suspect, may be a trip to our 'private' beach for a walk.
We had our fish and chips last night so tonight will be quiche, salad and jacket spuds banana and ice cream for afters.
One thing we have noticed since we have been up here, Tesco do not seem to have the value stuff they have in England. I have not been able to get several things I used to buy.........strange they have a butchery counter but do not have half shoulders of lamb!!! legs yes, shoulder no....I had to get a frozen one. I do think that Tesco take the mick.........its almost as if they are saying tough, you chose to live here you can pay more!!! annoys me. The nearest Tesco superstore is miles away and to go to Asda is 24 miles on the outskirts of Edin burgh. Hey ho........
Time to go, see y'all later....................Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Morning all, beautiful day here at Montrose, been away for walk along to Scurdie Ness lighthouse doing some birdwatching, not a lot about but just being out in the sunshine made it worthwhile.
Not much else planned for today, tidy up GF house before I head home to my own house tomorrow, then back to work earlies on SundayBut off on Thursday for five days :j
Waiting for a biopsy result so hopefully a positive news letter will be waitng for me when I get home, it's been over two weeks some me thinks they would have phoned if anything untoward had been found.... wouldn't they?
Anyhoo have anice day everyone . Will be popping in and out as the day progresses.0 -
Morning all
Happy Birthday Butterfly Brain! Enjoy your day!
I was MIA yesterday. I havd such a lovely day. I worked til midday then I went out with friends. We all got dressed up in pretty dresses and went for lunch in a posh restaurant, it wass all very Sex & The City!We had the 2 course set lunch, which was a reasonable £10pp. Then we headed off to a posh hotel to have drinks and then into town to dance
We had so much fun, and it was nice to spend time with my friends. I got train home and crawled into bed at midnight! And best of all, no hangover today :rotfl:
I'm off work now til Wednesday :j I had little lie in til 8, and then read in bed for an hour. WM is on. I'm going away tomorrow morning til Monday with some friends so need to pack a suitcase and print off hotel stuff. OS wise I need to wash up and tidy round, plus maybe freeze some things that may not last til I get back.
Tonight I'm going to watch the rugby, it's a local derby so should be fun! Just hope the rain isn't too bad! I also need to pop to my parents at some point today to pick up some stuff and say hello.
Hope you all have a fab Easter weekend!

Morning all,
A very lazy start for us this morning, I am pleased because OH is up early every day including weekends, so it gives him a good rest.
Its a bit dull here today but nice and breezy, so I have one load on the line, one in the wm and another to go in,
DD is off to to town with her friend and they will both come back tonight for a sleepover, dd and I made some easter nests yesterdayeven though she is 15 she sometimes still likes doing things with her mum
.
DD and friend will have pizza and chips for tea, and OH and I are going to treat ourselves to an indian, so looking forward to that.
Will drop dd at the station, and come back and start on the ceiling in dd's room, it will need filling and sanding, so will start on that.
Other than that I need to pop to the shop, I had my sainsbugs delivery last night, but they had dropped and smashed a bottle of wine all over my bread for the week, so need to go and replace them. and need to get little dog out for her walk.
Happy Birthday to Butterfly brain
I dont think it was n9eav's birthday yesterday, but it was his childrens, I might be wrong, it has been known0 -
Happy birthday Butterfly Brain, and to you for yesterday N9eav (whoops - or not if Redruby is right). Stroppyjock, I hope the results are fine for you - I know just how you are feeling, I got the results of my breast lump biopsy just over a week ago (all clear thankfully).
I was so tired last night I didn'tdo anything apart from making dinner. I was waiting at work for a promised delivery - the promises went from before 4.30 to 6.00 then 7.15. I told them I wouldn't wait any longer and left at 7.20 without it arriving grr. And they're closed now till Tuesday.
Had a bit of an OS disaster this morning. I've had tahini and chickpeas in the cupboard for ages so I decided to make hummus. The tahini had seperated out with the oil in the top and the sesame in a hard brick at the bottom so I put it in the liquidiser to blend together again. That worked brilliantly, unfortunately I then proceeded to pour the whole jar on top of the chickpeas instead of 2 tbsp. I got as much out as I could, added more chickpeas and doubled the other ingredients and its ok, not brilliant. I've doctored one lot with cumin and moroccan spices and it tastes a lot better.
That will be for lunch and salmon pesto pasta for dinner. A no meat day - although not on purpose. I also want to try some baking, including trying bread for the first time.0 -

Family left me to have a nice lie in until 9.00 then DH made me brekkie in bed of eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes, toast, juice, and freshly brewed coffee - won't be able to eat anything else for the rest of the day now.

Hi everyone
Been up since 8:30 and not got anything done yet  I blame DH for upsetting my normally strict schedule..... Must admit though it is lovely to have him home instead of at work , Think I am going to enjoy this long weekend
Just sent DH up to Mr T's to pick up a few bits to last us over the weekend so we don't have to go out all weekend, I feel a lazy few days of lounging around watching films and eating choc coming on
But in order to have a weekend of doing nothing I have got a good few things I need to do today, starting with the washing, The weather in Kent is lovely and sunny so going to take full advantage and fill my washing line
Going to have a quick whip round with the hoover, and duster in the living room, hallway and kitchen
Also going to try and make a fish pie, This will be a first for me so fingers crossed it will be edible when finished,
Then myself & DH are going to sort/clean his office out .. for the past few months it has been used as a dumping ground for everything/anything that has not got a home so I think I will be keeping freecycle busy today as I intend to throw anything out that has not been used in the last few months....
Think I am going to end here as I could go on and on and then nothing will get done today :rotfl:
Hope everyone has a fab weekendOctober grocery Challenge

Oh wow, Butterfly Brain, that's some birthday pressie, lucky you!! You must have been a very good girlIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0
