Hi Bargain bird - I never wash on New years day and Good Friday. I have looked it up in the Penguin book of superstitions - it is a South West superstition that you will wash away your family, also if you hang it out it will get spotted with blood!
Its just what my mother did and kinda stuck. Its actually really good not feeling guilty about not doing it as usually I do at least 3 loads a day. I must have at least 8 including DD manky stuff. Still no excuses tomorrow xWhat Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Afternoon everyone
Happy Good Friday to one and all.Weather here not too bad, no rain as yet. DS2 was up extra early this morning and thats after I let him stay up a little later last night. He is going to his dads tonight till Sunday evening, but there is no offer of having him for any of the holidays yet again:mad:.
Not much os here today, have put washing away. Not doing any today at all, but will do some tomorrow. Lunch will be Philadelphia salad sandwiche, tea will be omlettes and salad. May try and get out in the garden for an hour, could do with a tidy up. Need to continue with the decluttering over the weekend as need to be clutter free by end July when I move in with oh after I get married.
Butterfly Brain - Happy Birthday:beer:, had a great day and enjoy your presents.
Candygirl - Boo is so cute.
Molly41 - ((Hugs)) that must be so hard for you.
Bitsy - I too get DLA(middle rate) for DS2, it allows me to work part time as I wasn't coping when I worked full time due to lack of sleep etc. It helps towards doing things with him, at 9 he still needs the sameattention as he did when he was much younger ie no sense of danger, climbing everywhere, now seems fasinated by fire and is on the go constanly during the day. I would apply for it as others have recommended.
Stroppyjack - Hope your results are ok.
Diva - Hope you are ok.
Enjoy the rest of your day. Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care.

I'm a weegie too Jackieglasgow, I was near Crookston Castle, think that is Pollock. Left when I was six tho! Glasgow overspill, my dad worked in Howdens and think it was a redundancy job, so we moved to Arbroath. So I've gravitated back to my schooltime home with meeting my GF. Still love coming down to Glasgow on courses tho, brilliant atmosphere.0

Hi Ladels and Jellyspoons:hello:
Just wanted to let you know I have called Pink as I thought she had fallen off the edge of the earth. :rotfl: The bad weather has knocked out her wireless connection so she has no tinternet (which is probably driving her a bit insane if she is anything like me he he)
She said to say hi to all and she is hoping to be back online soon!
Sorry, in a major rush! Love to all! x
Thanks

Hi Guys,
Very late posting today as I went to work with DH this morning. He couldn't afford to take the day off so I went with him to keep him company.
Stroppyjock hope the results come back ok. I had some very good news yesterday. Went for a test on my leg to check the nerve responses. The neurologist had mentioned MS as my leg keeps going numb and weird and I keep getting really dizzy. Anyway yesterday they could find no response in my right leg at all and the left was normal. This means that the nerve is damaged and I have something called Meralgia Paresthtica. It sounds scary but is something that just happens when there has been trauma around the pelvis. Its a nerve that comes from the waist, it could have happened in pregnancy or childbirth and as I have 4 children is most likely the cause. They also said I have vertigo. Now although neither condition is great, they shouldn't get any worse and are infinitely better than MS, which they now think is very unlikely. Just a final visit in May to the neurologist to get the results of my MRI of the spine but things are looking very positive. Feel really relieved :j
Candygirl What a cutie she is just a bit older than my DGS Oscar
Butterfly Brain Enjoy the rest of your birthday.
Just got back from the pictures with DH and DS3 we watched Clash of the Titans which I enjoyed suprisingly and the boys loved it. Tea at Franky and Benny's so no cooking tonight. Not very OS but you have got to have a treat somtimes:D
Have a good day xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

jackieglasgow my late Mum was born on 24 December 1900 at 77 Albert Avenue around the Langside/Cathcart area.I still have her bible for perfect attendance at Crosshill church in 1914. I think its a carpet warehouse now. My late Grandfather John Richie Wilkie was a ships designer for John Brown's shipyard. My Mum went to school locally, and sang at one time in the Glasgow Orpheus Choir, she was very musical and played both the piano and the organ ,the latter mainly in the church. Her family moved to Bearsden as they grew more prosperous. My late Dad came from Brechin in Angus as did all his family going back to around 1645. I have traced my Mothers family back to about 1720 odd in Lochgilphead.I am a keen amatuer genealogist and my Dad's family tree is around 46 pages in total.
in 1932 my dad was widowed from his first wife and a couple of years later met and married my mum in 1935 my brother John was born in Glasgow in Langside in 1937 but the family moved to London in 1938 where they lived in Leyton until 1945 when they moved out to the comparative safty of Sydenham, then in 1947 moved to Blackheath to live . Like all Scots families they seemed to move about a bit but always returned to their roots at least once a year to visit relatives. Its only myself and my brother davy who were born in england much to my Dads regret I think. He was a very patriotic Scotsman and proud of his heritage.
So I guess I'm a bit of a mongrel really, I finally settled down in Kent after lots of moves in 1995 and I don't think I will move again as I do like living where I live .its quiet and I have good neighbours and my children and grandchildren all live closeby.what more could an old dear like me want. But I only have to hear a glaswegian accent and it so reminds me of my mum,she never lost hers neirther did my Dad although it did soften a bit from his 'angus growl'0 -
happy brithday butterfly!
candygirl - i love the photo!
Just waiting for the washing to finish. I have spent a lovely sleepy day with my Mum and brainstorming ideas for my new make up artist business, i am so exctied about it. More smaples and kit arrived yesterday, and I have also decided on a business name which I plan to register as a trademark. Also I am thinking about doing childrens parties too.
Parents out there - would the fact that I am enhanced CRB checked (with my job at an NHS mental health rehab unit) and a fully insured make-up artist make you comfortable enough to do a party for your children (11 -17 year ols).
I love reading about all your superstitions. My mum takes in forgein students, i spilt some salt the other day so threw some over my shoulder, i tried to explain to them why but they just looked at me as if I was mad!
Hugs to everyone - Julie, I was tested for MS, it was practically certain I had it but it turned out to be ME with toxicity (from a doctor prescribing too much of something). I have never cried with relief so much.
Jock - If it had anything that needed immediate attention I am 99.9% sure you would have had a phone call.Hmmm will add up debt and stick on on later!0 -
Evening all
Hubby's finished the decorating, Tension Teal on one wall, the other 3 are a very pale version of the same colour, just need to put everything back now.
Have a good evening everyone.
Hugs Hester

.
I think its a great idea, make over parties for teens, I would happily pay for someone to come to my house, although I would stay there myself too, I think there is a gap in the market for this, when can you come to mine ??0
