Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 2nd April. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning All

I find it hard to believe I'm the first here! Hope everyone is just enjoying a well deserved slow start.

I have a few MS jobs for today - hopefully they won't be too taxing but I need to get 'up and at it' I've been ill too long :D

I have some chicken breast which I'm going to put in the slow cooker while we're out today and then turn them into curry for me and the twins and sliced chicken and gravy for DD and DH for dinner. If I do them in the slowcooker it will reduce the urge to ring for a takeaway when we're shattered today!

Step-kids to their mums today for five nights - she lets them do whatever they like and stay up until the early hours of the morning (they are almost 9 and 10) and so they think its the best place in the world.....

Anyway must get on.....N9eav a belated Happy Birthday

    Morning all
Hubby's decorating the lounge today, I'm glad to see it done as we have a water stain on the ceiling where a pipe split months ago & the room will look better without it. We also need to sort out the fish tank, we need new stones, the aquatic shop is open all over the weekend. Best get on & give him a hand.
    Have a good day
    Hugs Hester

Another day off for me so enjoying cup of tea and reading the boards. Feels so good as would normally be at work by now.

Just about to put the slow cooker on with some pork, vegetables and wine. It's a throw it all together and keep fingers crosssed recipe.

Found my Tesco vouchers so ordered some restaurant vouchers so can treat unemployed friend for nice meal out. Also found Kangaroo backpack which will fill with baby bits and pieces for pregnant Austrailian friend.

Morning everyone - I hope that the sun is shining on you this Good Friday?

It's not a bad day here, there's been a slight frost overnight, but I can see the sun and there's a wee breeze blowing, so I reckon I'll get the washing dry outside today :)

I'm doing day 2 of a Standard 1st Aid course with the Red Cross today, so although I'm off work, I've still to be somewhere at 9.30. Never mind, it's all good and so far I'm enjoying it.

DH did the housework yesterday and last night's tea was sausage, egg, chips and beans. I think tonight's tea might be a pasta and salad dish, but I'll decide that when I get home.

I hope you've all got nice things planned for the Easter weekend. Have a good one!

    Morning everyone.
A quick one from me. Working today, mindee coming soon. Damp, grey and miserable and looking at the forecast it's going to be vile and wet today. Great just what you need with 3 kids who've got used to going outside in the warmer weather  If it doesn't rain then we still go out (and I dread the mud coming back in) but if it's tipping it down it tends to be less than pleasant.
    Tea tonight? No idea :o
OS? Not a fat lot really :o
H is off today so at least I will have some adult company. Going to need it as DD is in an swful mood today!!!!

N9eav - Very sorry I appear to have missed your birthday yesterday. Sorry :o Hope you had a good one

Butterfly Brain - Happy Birthday :D Have a lovely day

Nessie - enjoy your first aid course.

Sunnyday - at least if the weather is totally pants being at work doesn't seem quite so bad?

Have a lovely Good Friday those of you not working. To those of you that are I hope you have some lovely time of lieu or at least double pay ;)

    Where is everyone:D

Just having a coffee before the chaos begins:rotfl:. It is nice to take time getting ready instead of chasing DS around trying to dress him;).
DS going to his dads at 6pm today until Sun morning and thats the only time he is having him out of 2 weeks hols:mad:.
i am printing out some weekly timetables today and DS will help me to fill them in so he has the fortnight up on the wall, planned and he knows what is happening.
I have arranged to take him to the hospital radio at work one afternoon to help with the request show and see how they do it:T he can`t wait......I don`t think they know what they have let themselves in for:rotfl: I will make a batch of Twinks to take for them to say thank you.
Bitsy.....I felt like that when they first mentioned applying for DS DLA, I was still at the stage where I didnt see him as disabled as he wasn`t in a wheelchair etc:o. However when we became a single parent family I had no choice as I needed every penny to live on. Apparently a lot of cases get turned down first time but I think this is due to not filling forms in properly rather than not qualifying. DS got high rate straight away and I had no probs. I think this is partly due to being a nurse and knowing what they need to be told and what needs to be emphasised and being used to filling in medical paperwork. The easiest thing to do is take each section and in a notebook write everything he needs help and support with for that section and why.....eg awareness of danger, washing and dressing etc. I ended up writing a huge essay and attaching that to his forms with his name and app number on each sheet......there is a tiny box on each section for your answer and it is not enough room:p. Getting his DLA also opens doors to other help eg I don`t drive and DS gets a free bus pass for him and a carer to travel free so it saves us a lot and he also qualifies for funding for short breaks once a year to give autistic children and their families a short break away. This is the first year we have done this and are planning to go for a weekend to the farm he loves.:D
    Sorry for the essay:o

Will make some banana bread with DS today if I can tear him away from Horrid henry which is on all day on CITV:eek: oh joy..
Tea for OH and I will be chorizo pasta with salad ( for me anyway....OH doesnt do foliage;)). Will see what DS wants but he has been eating pasta recently:T

Happy Birthday Butterfly brain:jhave a fab day

    morning all!

    Happy Good Friday!:easter:

day off for me but am working the rest of the holiday after today. Plans for today are to finish painting DSs bedroom - done another coat already this morning! bit of a pain shuffling everything around cos there's no room to put everything if we empty it.
DS been up for work since 1.30am - busy day today for him as he's got lotss of extras like hot x buns to deliver as well as his normal stuff.
am having a salmon fishcake for my tea with salad and Hm chips - not sure about the others, will ask them later.
WM just finished so will hang it indoors as its damp outside atm.

    Diva - hope you're ok and having a lie-in x

(((hugs))) to those in need x

    Good Morning,

I hope you are all off having a lovely relaxing Good Friday.

N9eav belated Happy Birthday, I'm sorry it seems to have passed me by, too.

Butterfly Brain Many Happy Returns to you, Coco says woof!

Late start this morning, day off, but DH is working. More paperwork today, plan on making Thriftlady's cinnamon buns and some bread oday. Sausage plait for lunch and soup for dinner, or maybe sandwiches for lunch and the other two for dinner, I'll see how it goes. Another bright but frosty start up here, but all the windows are open and the light is filling the house.

The boys will be getting chucked out ASAP so I can have peace and quiet to get on.

Have a lovely day filled with smiles, everyone. Hugs if you are in need.

    Good monring dears!

Did grocercy shopping with OH in tesco last night, they had half priced smoked salmon from £10 - £5 so we treated ourselves for easter. We are also concerned we are not eating enough fruit (keep wasting the fresh stuff) to I discovered these little jelly fruit pots in Tesco discount range, and they only work out about 27p each (would also be great for kids lunch boxes) so I am hoping we'll eat a few of those occassionally.

Think I will put some washing on today, and then going to spend some quaility time with my Mum. I am working tomorrow and Sunday but have Monday off.

Bitsy - Keep Plugging away at those DLA forms it will be so worth it in the end.

Happy Easter Eve Eve everybody! xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hmmm will add up debt and stick on on later!
