I remember hunting out the refundable bottles to take back to the shop.
Things did used to be bigger & some things tasted better.
I do think cream eggs have shrunk, since I was a teenager so not as if I have grown bigger....I guess it depends how old we all are as to what size we first remember....me - I remember when wham bars first came out!0 -
This has got to be one of the best threads I've read.....and I bet I'm not the only one here who watched Life on Mars and really went on a wonderful trip down nostalgia avenue....and where DID the white dog turds go?? :rotfl:0

Does it ever occur to anyone a reason things look smaller now is because we used to be smaller, so things looked bigger?
It may be the case that some things have shrunk, but I haven't noticed creme eggs shrinking. I think curly wurly's have shrunk, but it's hard to tell whether it's just me being bigger
Curly Wurlys Have shrunk. In an interview about the filming of Life on Mars they talked about a prop place that has all original style wrappers of 70s items that they needed. They had Curly Wurly wrappers from then and when they got a real Curly Wurly from now to put in it during a scene, they were narrower and shorter0 -

Fifty pence? That's ten bob! I used to be given sixpence (2 and a halp pence) and that would buy me a bag fully of 'penny (old penny) chews'.
Anyone remember Black Jacks and Fruit Salad?
I still get bought Black Jacks and Fruit Salad sweets now and I'm 53!!:o

Space dust in the 80's, now that was ace! It would remove the entire lining of your mouth and tongue before reducing to a sticky orange mass that was impossible to swallow without choking! My dog loved it and would run around with his mouth full of the stuff, crackling and popping like a loon!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

Do you know, when I were a lad you could get a tram down into t'town, buy three new suits an' an ovvercoat, four pair o' good boots, go an' see George Formby at t'Palace Theatre, get blind drunk, 'ave some steak an' chips, bunch o' bananas an' three stone o' monkey nuts an' still 'ave change out of a farthing.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.0

I haven't noticed Creme Eggs shrinking either, but definitely noticed Curly Wurlys and Wagon Wheels were smaller. Glad to know I was right that they are shrinking, I was arguing this point last time I had a Curly Wurly and no one believed me
Personally I find it scandalous that Freddos are now 15p. I had 10p in my pocket a few months back and thought how nice it would be to spend my change on a Freddo... only to find I couldn't afford one, or indeed anything
