I was thinking today how when l was a child l used to be able to go to the shop with 50p and come back with a Wham Bar, bag of pick n mix a comic book, can of fizzy pop, crisps and a gob stopper AND still come home with change.

You can't do that these days......and why.......Bloody CCTV

How can it be theft if you go and buy something now with 50p????????

    Strange......

    The days.... I agree.

Wham bars also use to look more bigger than now! Have you seen them! Really tiny things. After a couple of bites you needed a new tooth or a filling.

    Space invaders, meanies...blah bah blah......

    Same with Curly-Wurleys.

They seemed bloody enormous in one's youth.

What about Wagon Wheels? They did actually used to come from wagons. Now they're about the size of a 50p but probably cost twice as much. :(

And Hula Hoops. I used to be able to get 5 on each finger and thumb. Couldn't fit one on my little finger now.

And don't get me started on Monster Munch!

Could it be something to do with how the size of your finger has changed since you were five years old? :D

50p...! I'd come home with the girl I met in the Cinema who thought I was rich because I'd paid for all of the above twice over!

Inflation (how much did a loaf of bread cost back then?) plus real increases in confectionery costs

I go on about this and I'm only 22 :rotfl: Space Raiders for 15p, madness! When I were a lass, penny sweets were only a penny, not like the crap you get these days! *grumble grumble*
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important
