I was thinking today how when l was a child l used to be able to go to the shop with 50p and come back with a Wham Bar, bag of pick n mix a comic book, can of fizzy pop, crisps and a gob stopper AND still come home with change.
You can't do that these days......and why.......Bloody CCTV

How can it be theft if you go and buy something now with 50p????????
Strange......
The days.... I agree.
Wham bars also use to look more bigger than now! Have you seen them! Really tiny things. After a couple of bites you needed a new tooth or a filling.
Space invaders, meanies...blah bah blah......Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

What about Wagon Wheels? They did actually used to come from wagons. Now they're about the size of a 50p but probably cost twice as much.

And Hula Hoops. I used to be able to get 5 on each finger and thumb. Couldn't fit one on my little finger now.
And don't get me started on Monster Munch! :eek:0 -

50p...! I'd come home with the girl I met in the Cinema who thought I was rich because I'd paid for all of the above twice over!0 -
Inflation (how much did a loaf of bread cost back then?) plus real increases in confectionery costs0
