Thank you for your comments Gerrard-8-lfc this is what BG told me when I phoned them!!
Call me a cynic if you like but I just cannot believe British Gas are doing this just to benefit the customer ,any business will try to make a product more cost effective
Some of the advantages you have explained are already covered under your home buildings insurance .
It would really be helpful if British Gas demonstrated in a leaflet exactly the difference between the different types of cover .
Also I would be very disappointed if a boiler which had been serviced yearly blew up0 -

And the amount included for getting to your system for the repair is the same whether it's cover or care. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

In which case a replacement boiler would be little use to you.I would prefer a 12.5% reduction in the price or include power flushing of the system as and when needed !!
Myself I think it will backfire on BG as more and more companies are offering insurance backed schemes !! so it will be a more competitive section of the business0 -
The scaffolders have been this morning and the BG engineer has just arrived. He has inspected the certificate/scaffold and its looks like the job is going ahead.
Thanks again everyone for your input.0 -
