Hilarious! People in my area are increasing their asking price!

This forum yes, but the nutjobs shouldn't start invading the housebuying forum. I don't see Hamish in the housebuying forum telling everyone to increase their asking prices or offer an extra 10% on everything.
Perhaps i should have worded certain 'users',lolOfficial MR B fan club,dont go............................0 -
Dopester have you ever read 'A brief history of nearly everything' by Bill Bryson?
Time and again history has shown that many Humans are incapable of escaping thier reality tunnel despite the evidence
I would say you fit the mould completely and that you will always think a significant correction is imminent. Ive said this to you for a long time.
Your reality tunnel is way to narrow and only you can can alter it. I suspect you never will which is a shame for you in a way:o0 -

That was my point to Dopester. The reason this board exists is to keep this sort of speculation out of the main house boards. It's sad to see it leaking back. At least I now understand why this board can't be moved into Discussion Time as I keep requesting. The HPC brigade would just decamp back to the main housing boards with their Vested Interest touted as 'advice'."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -

When I bought last year, I was given the same 'don't buy now because house prices are going to fall another 10% and you'll be throwing money away' advice. As it turned out, I bought anyway and lo' and behold, prices actually rose 11% in my area according to the Land Registry. Certainly, this is represented in asking prices in my area. Had I listened to the 'bear' advice, I would still be in rented now because I would have been priced out of the style of house that I bought.
The 'bear' advice was right back in 2007 and will have saved a lot of people money if they heeded it. The 'bear' advice is now not appropriate for the current market and will cost people a lot of money.
It's one thing for the 'bears' to spout their pessimistic predictions on the house price discussion forum - most of us here know your objectives. However, you lot have no right to push your VI on the main house boards. You've also no right to make personal insults and/or follow me about the boards just because I disagree with you and have the conviction to post an alternate viewpoint.
a) From my POV, telling sellers to hold out for their desired price is not an opinion which "doesn't cost anyone any money."
You're so certain with your opinion you've called the bottom of the market when you bought, that you dismiss my alternative beliefs as not allowable.
Your opinion can cost people money. "Hold your ground", "Don't give your home away" (= don't cut price) if you are wrong about the bottom. Yet you're convinced I'm wrong, that you insult me Harry with your claims I'm costing people money.
She's asking £500 more than the much superior home is on for next door! It's unlikely she'll find a buyer who'll pay £500 more than the much superior house for sale next door.
b) I hope you're still going be around, if she doesn't luck out with a buyer, and chases the market all the way down to when houses on that stretch of road are going on the market for £30K-£50K. It might not happen of course, but your opinion to hold doesn't mean she can't lose significant value/money with changes in the market.
Compared to my opinion to cut her asking price to whatever attracts more viewers (none atm - as to be expected with a neighbour's much superior house not yet sold, when it's on for £500 less than hers).
c) I've made no personal insults to you. You seem to have taken implied insult because you don't believe prices will fall, and that I'm wrong. Even if you hadn't bought in 2009, my outlook would be the same. It's nothing personal.
Please stop accusing me of following you on the boards.
This thread, and that other thread, is the only recent contact we'd had in any discussion, and on that other thread, I posted before you. Why are you claiming I'm following you around. If anything, it feels the other way around.
Your first post on that thread followed on from a post I made, with you warning about bears, and strong suggestion she should not cut her asking price - cause you fully believe it will cost her money and that only you can be absolutely right about the bottom of the market ect.Harry_Powell wrote: »Watch out for the advice given on this forum. Go spend your 11% house price rise Harry.0 -

I read the housing forum and I have seen probably 3 posters from here posting about prices 2 bears and 1 bull so it works both ways.
The posts are few and far between and I suspect have no relevance on peoples opinions.0 -

Conrad, no I haven't, but have it on my to-read list. I've really enjoyed a few other of Bill Bryson's books. My reality tunnel at least gives me options, considering I have no debt, and significant financial resources.
The evidence is not as fully conclusive as Harry and some others would believe..
You know I think you're pretty smart Conrad. I know for a fact you sometimes post a view/thread/position to see how it's received on the forums, even when you don't fully believe or have doubts about an outcome yourself.0 -

Uh-oh, careful Harry.
You're starting to sound a bit like someone else on here who moans about stalkers and the like.
You really don't want to end up like that.0 -

I guess I'm just from a different tree to you when it comes to life risk. I've never really managed to get my head around trying to manage the 'perfect outcome' when it comes to your home.
My attitude is buy a home and get on with life. It may fall it may rise, but who gives a !!!!!! in the long run - is money really that important? We're all poor in the grave:A0 -

You didn't need all the other preamble, your last statement tells me all that I need to know...."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -

I think that's the attitude of most right-minded people."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0
