We have ambulances to respond to life-threatening emergencies, not to be (ab) used as materni-taxis!!!0 -

I'd certainly like to see a link to a study that showed that result.
It appears totally counter intuitive.0 -
Thank you everyone, this has been really helpful. Confused indeed does work, and returned a quote £300 cheaper than the best we had got through a 'specialist' insurer.
For anyone in this situation in the future, Im finding a further saving of around £150 by putting myself on as a named driver. Im also finding I can put him as a named driver onto my own policy for only about £70 more than I currently pay my own insurer!
Thanks MSEs for your help this morning.Stuck in a hole:(:( Just a step from getting out

A happy result and nice to see a poster updating with the outcome.
It might be worth trying the other comparison sites in the main site link I posted earlier0 -
Good to see people on here prepared to help someone who has been honest and had the courage to ask for advise. The claim that it's 'those over the limit the morning after' is completely groundless, and counter-productive to the discussion. Hand on heart can anyone say that they haven't driven home the morning after they've been out with their friends or stayed over at a partner's house?0

some insurers will reduce the premium if you've completed a drink-driving rehabilitation course (but obviously, that in itself, costs money).0

Also does anyone know how long we have to declare the DR10 for?
the lecture brigade
Please dont batter me, Im pregnant and emotional and you just might make me cry!0 -
.......Heavens forbid that we should lecture you! You've done nothing wrong, but I'll leave any lecturing to our Department for Transport: http://www.dft.gov.uk/think_media/241033/241066/dontdrinkanddie.pdf
Nah, we won't hurt you. But a drink driver might.
DfT reckon that 400 road deaths every year are drink related and 3,500 are caused by something else.
Therefore you are about ten times more likely to be killed by someone who is just a crap driver than you are by someone who is drunk.
I’m sure there is a flaw in the logic somewhere……..0 -
