HI, as an ex gas fitter and installer of central heating, my advice would be Worcester or Vailant, they're both very well made, from excellent materials, with superb engineering.0

agree with that, and add the new Ideal boilers are good for the price, a lot cheaper than Vaillant and cheaper than Worcester.
In my last job, I sold hundreds and only ever had 3 with problems.0 -
Just dont be talked into a baxi barcelona condensing boiler. Replacing mine at only 3 years old. Good when it works, we have to switch on manually otherwise just locks out - plumber says efficent but dreadful build quality
Good luck0 -
I am also looking for new conventional boiler and am very confused!
I have an average 3 bed, 2 recpetion semidetached. I have been told need a boiler with approx 50-60,000 BTU
I have found the following boilers and prices (excludes flue etc)
1. Vaillant Condensing Conventional Gas Boiler ecoMAX Pro 18E £654.46 incl VAT, 2 yr warranty
2. Worcester Condensing Conventional Gas Boiler Greenstar 24 RI £750.82 incl VAT, 2 yr warranty
3. Ideal Conventional Gas Boiler Icos 18 HE £702.65 incl VAT, 1 yr warranty
4. Glow Worm Condensing Conventional Gas Boiler 18 HXi £626.31 incl VAT, 2 yr warranty
5. Ravenheat gas condensing boiler from B&Q, £449.00 incl VAT, 3 yr warranty
Which boiler is good and reasonably priced etc.
Any advice greatly appreciated0 -
medic1978,
I am in a similar situation, i also need a new combi boiler and having had a worcester combi bolier installed in my previous house, will no problems for 6 years, i really wanted a similar boiler installed.
I have started ringing around to get the best price for a new boiler supplied and fitted and the best price i have had is:
" Worcester Condensing Conventional Gas Boiler Greenstar 24 RI for £1400.
this is a massive difference when compared to the £750.82 incl VAT, 2 yr warranty, you quoted.
can anyone let me know what price i should be aiming for.
thanks
andyNo reliance should be placed on the above.0 -

Are not the other prices without fitting?0 -
i had worcester condensing boiler with room digistat( thermostat) its a greenstar 24i .excellent boiler last few months. i had a look around on internet and had a quote off several websites than went to a corgi registered plumber and registered electrician and ask them to match price. they did as their supplier usually able to. best to check how much energy you need according to size of rooms in your house and estimate energy usage first. can't remember which website i went to for this. if the plumber can't match price then ask if they can just do the fitting and you get the appliances. with worcester the basis are easy .i.e boiler, basic flute ( if boiler near rear entrance of your house) and termostat. only draw back with worcester is the steam when on is like steam from the train, so make sure you are ok with that especially in winter.0

Hi, I wonder if someone could help. We just moved into a new house, which has a Worcester Boiler (oiled fired) and Digistat.
I have the manuals now, having downloaded from a website but despite this and speaking to a Worcester technician; I still cannot get the Digistat to control the boiler.
The radiators do come on but the times etc., do not seem to have any bearing on the Digistat settings.
We have no constant red lights.
The Worcester guy said he didn't know and I should get an engineer out to set it up for me but money is very very tight, just to have someone come and fiddle with controls.
Could anyone help please?

Are you sure that the digistat should control the boiler? On this webpage, a digistat is shown on the left and a twin channel programmer on the right. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
