Here you go! Didn't know anyone else had ever heard of it! It is one of our favorites
1/2 lb sugar
1/2lb butter
2 eggs
1lb cooking apples peeled and sliced
12oz plain flour
2 tsp soda bic
1 1/2 lb dried fruit
1/2 tsp mixed spice
Oven 160 oC
Stew apples with sugar, melt butter into it. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Add apple mixture and beaten eggs. Mix well, put into lined tins and bake 2-3 hours. you will smell when it is done.0 -

You are welcome!
This is the only fruit cake we make, xmas, birthdays, wedding etc. Must set the kids on making a batch this week I think. Thanks for reminding me about it.
But, was this what you were looking for? Or was it without the dried fruit? I guess you could try not adding that and see how it turns out.0 -
the one i used to make was a plain sponge with stewed apple on the bottom but your recipe sounds more interesting and daughter loves dried fruit so i know she will like this one thanksBefore you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0

If you have a Be-Ro book, look up Eve's Pudding which is exactly what you described.....if you haven't got a Be-Ro book then look at http://www.be-ro.com/f_insp.htm

Hi gt568,
There are some recipes on this older thread that should help so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the replies together.
