Yeah - I wrote to ofcom about this as apparently 077449 is actually a premium rate 'personal number' with a higher 'termination charge' than mobile numbers (on most networks although three's are similar) ponting out that there web site states it is a mobile number - I got a reply sending me to another link on their site saying it was 'Dolphin Telecom' - not much use.
    I think....

has access to 40 countries via an Orange number, which should be in included minutes on 3 and Vodafone. Not weekends though

There's another number that enables you to save up points to use for more expensive calls, but I don't know that I'd bother.

The first number may have 0845 and 0870 possible as well; I shall check tomorrow (err, later today)

0845 works; not 0870 (at all on first number; until you've built credit on the 2nd)

OK, so it's included in Orange inclusive minutes, but not Three or Voda.

    Anyone tried T-Mobile and 02?

    not true.

    not included on 3

    BUT,

    it is included on:
vodafone [u have to complain if charged]
    t-mobile &
    orange &
    02
  • When we sign up the mobile contract, it usually says the min can call all other UK mobile network. However, it does not say which network is not including.

Therefore, as a customer, we should think the 07744 number is included in the free cross-network area.

When voda or single point said the 07744 is not included, they just say it is not included, but could not provide any black and white information to confirm or tell us that number is not include.

Therefore, I think we should blame the operator not simply-fone.

I think we should make a complait to oftcom. As a customer, we cannot justfiy which number is not "Big Four" network. Also as the common sense, we always think cross-network should work for all UK mobile network.

    What do you think?
    Spend smart, and save more.
  • I used the simply fone number to call france last week and received a recorded announcement stating something like "You will be charged for this call by your service provider".
    1. Is this announcement put in place by Simply fone?
    2. Does this mean that it is included in Tmobile Xnet minutes or not?
    Confused, I am!
...and then the window licker said to me...

I just rang it to listen to the message... U had me worried as i use it a lot.

The message actually is very 'transparent' & very fair.

It says 'you may be charged' etc... (covering their backs against 3 no doubt..) but goes on to say 'the calls may be included in your incl... minutes etc.. check with yr provider!'

Very honest if i may say..

& in my experience T-Mobile have NEVER charged me yet (6 weeks usage) for calls to 07744974333. :)

I wasn't charged by Orange (OVP Voda) for the similar Alpha Telecom number (a rather less generous deal - 3p discount on their normal rate)

Simply-fone seem to me to be carefully explaining it in case the other operators decide in future to change the charging.

Oftel haven't replied to my question; perhaps I'll phone. I don't what kind of complaint it would be if the networks decide to charge calls to a no-longer-existant operator.

Maybe use that Pre-dial Orange number for the cheapest countries to attract less attention
  • narol,
thanks for that. I was worried as I'd used a friend's phone to make the call!
    I'll sleep sounder tonight.
